Christians and politics

Something that must be addressed today is the way that some people, Christians, act when it comes to politics, the President, Congress, etc.  but in particular to the President.  I don’t care whether you think he is the Antichrist (really some do) or a bad President or a good President.  That is not my issue, my issue is that Christians tend to send around derogatory posts and e-mails that only stir up the pot and keep the country divided.  I have been just as guilty, and I say have been because God has been working on me, Really working on me lately and I ma torn between my old “great America” lets do business and my new “people are less fortunate and need help” self.  So I get really irritated at Christians who stir the pot.  Look at Paul in 1 Timothy 2:1-4,

1Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.  (1 Tim 2:1-4, NKJV)

So instead of causing more divisiveness, how about we pray and come to the table the right way.  There is power in prayer and God answers His people.  Maybe He isn’t taking heed because we spend too much time stirring.

In Christ
