"The Prodigal Son"

Luke 15:11-24; And He said, A certain man had two sons: And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of my goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living. And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in the land; and began to be in want. And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into the fields to feed swine. And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him. And when he came to himself, he said, How many servants of my Father's have bread enough to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, And am no longer worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants. And he arose and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son. But the father said unto his servants, Bring forth the best robe, put it on him; and put a ring upon his hand, and shoes on his feet: And bring the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry: For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.

My brethren, the Lord has placed a message upon my heart that speaks to those of us who were indeed prodigal sons before the Lord. In my own life, I was indeed the prodigal son. I was raised in the church from a very young age, and had a relationship with the Lord Jesus. I fell away from the Lord as I followed after the lusts of the flesh, and the pride of life. I found myself bound in all manner of sins. I denied my Saviour, and was once again lost in my sin. By the grace and mercy of the Lord I came to myself, much like the prodigal son and realized that I had walked away from the Lord Jesus, and His will for my life. I had a form of godliness, but denied the power thereof. I was indeed lost in my sin, and in dire need of my Saviour, The Lord Jesus Christ.

Brethren, I want to encourage those of you who are backslidden, and away from the Lord to come back to Him today. Today is the day of salvation, and there is no time to wait. Trust once again in your Lord and Saviour today, for He is waiting for you with open arms.

Often times we tell ourselves that we are beyond the mercy and grace of our Lord. The lie of the enemy is such that he wants us to believe that because of the sins we have committed, we are beyond the saving grace and mercy of the Lord. I know that in my own life, the enemy lied to me and told me that the Lord could never use my life again, due to the many sins that I had committed. This was a lie from the pit of hell. The Lord Jesus forgave me of my sin, and set me free indeed. John 8:36 states; If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Trust in the Lord Jesus my brethren, for He loves you. He is waiting for you to return to Him ye prodigal sons and daughters. Do not listen to the lies of the enemy which come only to kill, steal, and destroy. Do not be ignorant of his devices. For the enemy is the father of lies, and the truth is not in him. The Lord Jesus is calling you back to Himself. The Lord Jesus is the Great Shepherd and He is seeking to save the lost. Hebrews 13:20 states; Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant. Remember my brethren that the Lord loves you and His grace and His mercy are boundless. No matter what we have done, if we will humble ourselves before the Lord, and come to Him with a contrite heart, and ask for forgiveness and mercy for our sins against Him, and repent of our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our trespasses and sins, and cast them into a sea of forgetfullness, never to be remembered again. What a great salvation we have in the Lord Jesus. Jesus is so wonderful and worthy of all of our praise. Hebrews 8:12 states; For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

I just want to encourage you my brethren, that the Lord is calling you back to the fold. He is seeking and saving the lost. Luke 19:10 states; For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. Are you lost and away from the Lord? If so, the Lord Jesus is willing that none should perish, but that all should have eternal life in Him. Seek Him while He may be found my brethren, for He loves you. Trust in Him this day, for He will come into your heart and make you free. Do not continue on in your sin which builds a wall between you and your Saviour, The Lord Jesus Christ. He is waiting for you to come to Him as the prodigal son did in the Lord's parable. if you will humble yourself and come to Him with a repentant heart, he will see you from a far off, and run to you, and have compassion upon you, and receive you unto Himself.

Be encouraged my brethren, for my testimony is such that I was once the prodigal son. I was away form the Lord Jesus, mired in sin. I knew that the Lord was not pleased with my sin and compromise with the world. I came to myself, and realized that I was in dire need of my Saviour. I came to the Lord Jesus with a repentant heart, and the Lord received me once again unto Himself. He can do the same for you. Come to Him today, for He loves you, and wants to set you free. John 8:26 states; If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
