Ephesians 6:13; Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all to stand.
My brethren, the Lord has placed a message upon my heart that speaks to the warfare that we as Christians wage each day in the Spirit. We as followers of Jesus are commissioned to preach the Gospel of Peace. Insodoing, we are called to put on the whole armour of God so that in the evil day we can stand. It is apparent to me that we are in such a warfare that our very lives hang in the balance. The enemy of our soul is encamped round about us seeking whom he may devour. We must realize that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but powerful to the pulling down of strongholds through the blood of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour. Paul the Apostle understood this warfare, and told us that we must put on the whoile armour of God in order to wage this spiritual war. Ephesians 6:13-18states; Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in that evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all of the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirt, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; And as for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the Gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. In the previous portion of scripture, we are told that we must prepare ourselves for battle as good Christian soldiers by putting on the whole armour of God. This must be done daily. We are to listen to the voice of the Lord when He tells us to pray. We must read the word of God each day as well so that the preparation of the Gospel is upon our hearts. We msut be ready to give an answer to every man about our faith in Jesus. We must not neglect the call to put on the whole armour of God, as our very lives depend on this.
Do not be ignorant of the many snares that the enemy has placed in our path so as to make us fall. We are to be aware of the devices of the enemy, for our adversary the devil is a raging lion seeking whom he may devour. Understand my brethren, that we are not only in a fight for the souls of the lost, but we are in a fight for our very own souls as well. We must be aware of our physical and spiritual surroundings in that we must not touch the unclean thing, be it lust, fornication, adultery, murder, envy, strife, etc. We are to allow the Holy Spirit to direct our paths every moment of every day, for the journey we have embarked upon is perilous, and beset with much affliction. We as followers of Jesus will have to endure much hardship, persecution, and affliction for our Lord, but oh how it will alll be worth the unspeakable joy we will have when we enter into our rest. For to live is Christ and to die is gain. Take heart my brethren for the Lord Jesus goes before us into battle as He is our conquering King. The Lord has called all of us who are His faithful chosen ones, "more that conquerers".Take heart my brethren, for the Lord goes before us in all things, and will not let us be tempted beyond that which we can handle. Trust in Him, for He is our righteousness and our strength. For they that wait upon the the Lord they shall renew their strength. Remember, that for if the Lord be for us, who can stand against us. It is for the souls of all mankind that we wage this warfare, and in order to be victorious on the battlefield, we must know our enemy and his strategies. The word of God tells us that our adversary the devil is the father of lies, and that he is the accuser of the brethren. The enemy accuses us as believers before the Lord day and night. We are constantly bombarded with the fiery darts of the wicked one. Therefore we must have on the breastplate of righteousness so that these darts will be quenched. The way that we can put on the whole armour of God is through prayer, and the diligent study of God's holy word. 2 Timothy 2:15 states; Study to shew thyselves approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. We are called to study God's holy word, and insodoing, we will be able to use the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God in spiritual battle. Again, this war that is raging is not against flesh and blood, but is against powers and principalities, and rulers of darkness and spiritual wickedness in high places. We are locked in fierce combat against the enemy of our very souls, and his strategy is to utterly and absolutely destroy us, both physically and spritually. The enemy will often times use those that we love the most to do his evil bidding. Be wise as serpents and gentle as doves my brethren. Understand that we must not waver in our faith in the Lord. For our shield is faith, and we must wield it in this warfare that we are waging.
We as followers are being called for this very hour to be good soldiers for the Lord. We are to be the salt and light of the world. We are to be holy as He is holy. We are to put the Lord Jesus first in our lives above all else. We must repent of our sins for the kingdom of heaven draws near. We must understand that we are locked in mortal combat for the lives and souls of the lost, and we must not waver in our resolve to be as close to the Lord as we can possibly be. We must be obedient in these last days. We must put on the whole armour of God as we are commanded to do, and by doing so, we will be prepared to do spiritual warfare. Take heed my brethren lest you fall. Remember that we are called for this generation to be a royal priesthood, set apart unto the Lord. Fight the good fight of faith my brethren, and remember that the Lord goes before us in all things. We are more that conquerers in Christ Jesus our Lord! Amen.
