2 Corinthians 6:14-18: Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness. And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God: as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing, and I will receive you, And will be a father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord almighty.
The Lord has impressed upon my heart to give a message of repentance, and exortation my brethren that we as believers should be separate from the world, as we are indeed set apart for the Lord, as we are His holy temple here on this earth.
2 Corinthians 6:14 tells us that we as followers of Jesus should not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. Often times we find ourselves falling into sin with those who do not know the Lord Jesus, and as a result we fall back into the ways of this sinful flesh. The Lord is calling us to follow Him and be separate from those whom the word of the God calls "children of disobedience". We are to love and witness to those that do not yet know the Lord, but we are forbidden by the Lord to become yoked together with them. Are you spending too much time and precious energy trying to fit in with those who do not know the Lord? Are you communing with darkness by compromising your stance on sin, by instead of being a witness and testimony, you are participating in the unfruitful works of darkness? The Lord Jesus is calling us to repent of this, and pick up our cross and follow Him once again, by severing our ties to those who do not know the Lord. Like I said previously, this does not mean that we should totally abandon the lost. However, we must be separate from the world by letting the light of Christ shine through us to this wicked and perverse generation. We must not become darkness by compromising our stance on sin by trying to fit in with the world.
2 Corinthians 6:15 asks us; what does a follower of Jesus have in common with an unbeliever? I ask you the very same question. What do you as a Christian have in common with someone who is walking contrary to the will of God? How can you justify walking in the flesh, by compromising your walk with Jesus by trying to fit in with the world? When I ask these questions, I am not only speaking to you my beloved, but I am asking myself the same questions. This message is given in love, not judgement and condemnation, as this is not my place. The Lord says that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. However, the Lord's grace is not to be trampled upon by us taking the liberty to sin against the wonderful grace of the Lord. Are you sinning against the Lord by trampling upon His grace? If this is the case, then I must lovingly and humbly ask you to repent, as the Lord will not strive with man, nor will He bless the unfruitful works of darkness. I therefore want to encourage you to come to the Lord now and ask for forgiveness for compromising with the world. Seek Him now while He may be found, as very soon, the door will be shut, and darkness will fall upon all mankind, and there will be no more space of time to repent, for again the Lord will not strive with man.
2 Corinthians 6:16 tells us that we are the temple of the living God. The word also tells us that the Lord dwells in us, and that He walks in us as well. Can't we see that the Lord Jesus is in us, and He calls us to be holy as He is holy. Now, we have no righteousness in ourselves. Our righteousness is as filthy rags, to be discarded and destroyed. All of our works will be tried by fire on that great and terrible day of the Lord. Will your works be fuel for the fire, or will they be shown to be worthy of the Lord's commendation? One day we will all be required to give an account for all that we have done while we were upon this earth. Will your works be wood, hay, or stubble, or will they be gold tried in the fire and found to be works worthy of the Lord's approval? Search your hearts my brethren, for the eyes of the Lord are upon you. Jesus is calling us to be salt and light in this lost and fallen world, as we are ambassadors for Christ to this lost generation. We are not of this world, nor are we to be a friend of the world. The Lord said that He did not come to bring unity, but a sword to divide. This menas that we as followers of Jesus must be good soldiers and wield the sword of the word against the rulers of this present darkness. We are in s spiritual war that rages against our very souls, and we are not to be ignorant of the devices of the enemy which are to kill, steal, and destroy our very souls. We are to pluck those who do not know the Lord Jesus out of the fires of a very real hell by being a true and faithful witness of the Lord's mercy and grace to those who are lost, by witnessing to them of the wonderful love that the Lord Jesus has for them, and that they must repent of their sins. Are you being a true and faithful witness, or are you fitting in with the world?
2 Corinthians 6:17 tells us as followers of Jesus to come out from among those who do not know the Lord, and be separate from them. We are also told to touch not the unclean thing, and as a result the Lord will receive us unto Himself. In this verse of scripture the Lord Jesus is telling us that we must separate ourselves from those who do not know Him. We must understand that we are sheep and they are goats. We do not have anything in common with them, and we are not to intermingle with them, for their ways should not be our ways. In other words, we must understand that if we are to reach the lost, we must be holy as the Lord is holy and allow His Holy Spirit to flow in and through us to those who do not know Jesus. We must walk contrary to the world, and by doing this we will show the lost that there is hope for their lives through the forgiveness of sins. Will you surrender to the Lord today and ask for forgiveness for compromising with the world?
2 Corinthians 6:18 states that if we listen to the words of the Lord, he will call us His sons and daughters. if we come out from among those who do not know the Lord and be separate from the world the Lord will call us His sons and daughters. The operative word here is "separate". If we do these things, then the Lord will bless us by receiving us unto Himself. I encourage you my brethren to seek the face of the Lord, repent, and ask forgiveness for your friendship with the world. Be ye holy as our Lord Jesus is holy.
