Life Lessons Special Friday Edition

Dearly Loved Friends-

Today is Friday! It's gonna be a great weekend!

I don't have much planned for my weekend. I'll go to church Sunday and Saturday I'll stay home and clean and spend time with my dog and then i'll probably see my friend and go get some coffee at Starbucks with her.

You know it doesn't really matter what kind of plans you have, it only matters what kind of an attitiude you have, how you speak to others, what your thoughts are, and what you do with your time.

If you are anything like me I think you already know that those areas are of upmost importance in your life.

"Whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and loveable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things." (Phillipians 4:8a)

"If we concentrate our thoughts on good things-the kind of things Paul mentioned in that verse-we will be built up. We will grow spiritually and become strong in the Lord...We need to overcome Satan in this area of the battle for thoughts, and God will help us if we ask him." (Battlefield of the Mind-Joyce Meyer)

You see it really is true, "Garbage in gabage out." Whatever we put in our minds is what will come out of our mouths and it's what will come out in our actions and our thoughts. Why poison our minds? That would be like deliberately swallowing a cyanide pill. I mean how many of us would willingly take poison? We wouldn't. So if we wouldn't swallow a poison pill, why are we swallowing the lies of Satan.

Satan is the greatest deciever of all time. He makes you think that sin is okay as long as no one else knows. He makes you think that you are not worth it and neither is life, so you might as well just put that gun in your mouth and pull the trigger, take the pill, hang yourself or jump off the bridge. Let me tell you my friends, suicide is not the way out! It just isn't the way God intends for us to die. Our lives are sacred and comitting suicide is akin to murder and I know for sure that murder is a sin and stands for everything evil and nothing good can come of it.

So if you are thinking about suicide I encourage you to talk to a Christian brother or sister or call your pastor or e-mail me (

Do not give up my friend! "Pain may last for a night but joy comes in the morning" and ending your own life will not fix anything. It will only make your family and friends miserable. Think about it, youve seen the news stories and read about people who have comitted suicide. Where did that get them? Nowhere! They are dead now and no closer to coming to a resolution of their problems!

In the song, Good Times by Manic Drive they talk about how fun and good it was in childhood and how life was more free, but that now they feel like a kid again because of God and His love for them.

Why can't we all take some to take a look back on our lives and reflect on all the times God has blessed us. Take time to write them down. I bet that we will find more blessings from the Lord than deceptions from Satan.

Well, that's all for today! Have a blessed weekend and keep looking up, keeping your eyes on the Lord Jesus Christ!

In His Mighty Grace and Love,

Alex (Jeremiah 29:11)
