To Serve Him!
"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." Ephesians 2:10.
When God created us his purpose was that we should be instruments in his hands which he could use to fulfill his purpose, and bring glory to himself. When we yield ourselves to him to do his bidding, we find great satisfaction, and our joy and happiness is fulfilled. Though we are all sinners and have come short of the glory of God, God has provided a way by which we can be forgiven and reconciled to him by receiving Jesus Christ as our sin bearer and savior.
The word of God teaches us that every saved, born again child of God is given at least one spiritual gift whereby we can minister as ministering servants so that we might show forth the unsearchable riches of Christ, and to make all men see the glory of God. We ought to ask God to reveal to us the one or more gifts which he has assigned to us, and ask God to help us to develop it so that we might bear fruit for him.
It was always God's will that the gentiles should be fellow heirs, and of the same body, and partake of his promise in Christ by the gospel whereof Paul says: "I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power. Unto me who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ and to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: to the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God according to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: in whom we have boldness and access with confidence by faith of him. Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulation for you which is your glory." Ephesians 3:6-13.
It is God's will that those around us in the world hear the gospel so that they too might see and know of the unsearchable riches of Christ. We are responsible to God to use the gifts he has given us to make this a reality. With the gift, God gives the boldness and confidence to utilize it for his glory.
If we will yield ourselves to him: "God is able to do with us, exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us." Ephesians 3:20.
Someone said to D L Moody: "It has not yet been seen what God could do with a man or woman who was totally yielded to him." Moody is reported to have said: "By God's grace, I want to be that man." Moody went ahead and won two continents to Christ.
The power that worketh in us is the person of the Holy Spirit, and when one is willing to yield himself to the guidance and leadership of the Holy Spirit, he can be filled with all the fullness of God. "That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his spirit in the inner man: That Christ may dwell in your heart by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height, and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end.. Amen" Ephesians 3:16-21.
