Pray for our Firefighters

25 fires in one week in Teller County, two of enormous magnitude. 1000+ firefighters risking their lives to save ours. Armed Forces have joined the fight today. Department of Defense has resources we don't have.

Colorado Springs is devastated. The city with hundreds of ministries like Focus on the Family, The Navigators, Compassion International, Young Life, to name a few. Our town, Woodland Park and neighboring communities are cut off from them. The highway has been closed and will NOT be opened anytime soon.

Even as I write this the arsonist has set yet another fire...this time 3 miles from my home right across the street from the Ranger Station. How brazen is someone to do that?!?

But one of the main objectives right now, other than saving people, structures, wildlife...is the wellbeing of the firefighters. The best we can do is pray for them. They consume approximately 6500 calories per day and drink a quart of water every half hour. What they are doing for us is beyond amazing. The Waldo Canyon fire west of Colorado Springs has consumed almost 4000 acres at this point and is moving in our direction as well as into Colorado Springs west side. 6000 people are displaced.

The firefighters are just trying to contain the fire at this point, then mitigate it, to protect life and property. They are toiling in the air and on land. That is their mission. Ours is to pray and keep them fed and hydrated.

Please keep praying for us. We are devastated. We are frightened. But I, like many other people in the area, know tha GOD IS STILL IN CONTROL.

Mood: crushed
