While We Worship this Morning our County is Engulfed in Flames
This morning our church family met, as did many others in the Pikes Peak Regions. Our hearts were heavy but we did what all believers do in a crisis: we came together, we prayed, we sang, we read the WORD.
And while we were in church, our arsonist(s) was/were at work. By the time church let out the whole pass up to Woodland Park from Colorado Springs was closed. The whole south side of our town is evacuating, the shelters were moved from Woodland Park to Divide, and four more fires were started.
This is a nightmare. A living, breathing (albeit hard to breathe) nightmare. The fire is zero percent contained and moving at a rate of 1/2 mile per half hour.
When we drove into our neck of the woods, the Florissant area, just a few miles west of Woodland Park, we were told there was a fire in our neighborhood. Government vehicles zoomed past us, smoke was thick...but the fire was out with no injury or structural damage.
My husband read on Huffington Post recently a portion of an article written by an Al Qaeda representative that basically said the best way to isolate and get to the American people is through forest fires. I guess whoever it was is right. we are all mortified at this point. There have now been 25 fires intentionally started in our county in the PAST WEEK.
Please google it: huffington post, then forest fires. PLEASE PRAY FOR US!
BY THE WAY: the Springer fire from last Sunday in our immediate area is now, as of 8 a.m. today, 100% contained. No deaths, no structural damage. Our GOD IS A MIGHTY GOD!
