Horoscopes-Dabbling in Magic-An Open Door for the Enemy

(Astrology, horoscopes, tarot, psychic reading; witchcraft, sorcery, soothsaying, interpreting omens, spells, and being a medium)

There are a lot of Christians, and people in general, who read horoscopes “just for fun”. Many times, they do not even rely on them, thus, they consider them harmless. In fact, the New Age Movement promotes and justifies these kinds of practices.

As Christians, we have the liberty to enjoy life and have fun. However, there are certain things that God’s word clearly speaks against and things we should not dabble in or entertain. Why even entertain some things? It is an unprofitable and useless practice and Titus 3:9 tells us to avoid unprofitable and useless practices.

God does not want us to be ignorant of the enemy’s devices. It may seem like nothing to most, but it is a subtil way for Satan to come in and wreak havoc in your life.

It is said that horoscopes and other forms of magic provide you with insights into your life path, but we should be knowledgeable of what they really do, according to the Word of God.

You may say, “They are only words,” but, still, many make the effort to search out, read, and/or rely on these words. Scripture tells us that these words (or counsels) are wearying and the originators, themselves, will be burned up (Isaiah 47:13-14).

Leviticus 20:6 says that “the soul that turns after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I (God) will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.

Do not be amazed that fortunetellers can tell you information spot on, as if they knew you and your future. All throughout scripture, the enemy is known to perform counterfeit signs and wonders. Satan is a supernatural being with the power to deceive. For those who partake, God considers these things abominations [detestable] (Deut. 18:12).

Acts 16:16-18 speaks of a girl possessed with an evil spirit; a spirit of divination, which brought her masters much gain through soothsaying. Paul was grieved at this and cast the spirit out in Jesus’ name.

These are all works of Satan and evil spirits are very much active in such works. Ephesians 4:27 tells us to give no place to the devil; give him no opportunity or foothold.  Rather, we are instructed to sanctify [consecrate] ourselves and be holy (Lev. 11:44; 1 Pet. 1:16), which is only possible by the washing of the Word and through the Spirit of God in Christ Jesus. Through obedience to the Word of God and spiritual warfare, you can assure that doors are shut off from the enemy and you are covered and preserved in the secret place of The Most High.

(This is not an extensive teaching.)

Hosea 4:6 "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children."
