NEW SEASON IN CHRIST - PART 1

One of my favorite books of the Bible is Song of Solomon.  There is so much we can gain out of this book on how we react in a love affair with our Lord.  This is an amazing picture of two lovers and how they pursue one another.

I want to share a little on how we go from one place to another in the spirit of God. Many times we call this “a season” and then we grow and mature into another attribute of our Father as we take on the image of Christ

Song of Solomon 2:8-13

Ah, I hear my lover coming! He is leaping over the mountains, bounding over the hills.9 My lover is like a swift gazelle or a young stag, Look; there he is behind the wall, looking through the window, peering into the room.10 My lover said to me, “Rise up, my darling!Come away with me, my fair one! 11 Look, the winter is past, and the rains are over and gone. 12 The flowers are springing up, the season of singing birds has come, and the cooing of turtledoves fills the air. 13 The fig trees are forming young fruit, and the fragrant grapevines are blossoming. Rise up, my darling! Come away with me, my fair one!”

Let’s break this down into a way we can understand it “laymen’s” terms and apply it in our walk…

“Ah,I hear my lover coming” Wow – I love that; she hears her lover coming.  This is symbolic to us being the bride and Christ as the bridegroom.  How do we hear our lover coming?

1.     Posture in prayer –are we seeking to hear His voice, to see His movement?

2.     What is occupying your heart and mind?  Things of God – help us to hear clearly – things of the world will cloud our perception of His movement and voice.

3.     Do you sense His presence, do you hunger to be in that atmosphere – a passion of Love towards Jesus.

“He is leaping over the mountains” another sign that Jesus does not allow things to stop Him from showing up (He is so willing to move at any meeting we have, but we create an atmosphere that ushers in His presence)– the flip side is – He comes leaping and we don’t give way to His movement.  He is for us, not against us – He sees past the “mountains” we have in our walk, for He is the one that gives us strength to move such mountains.

“Bounding over the Hills” – we need to understand that our sinfulness doesn’t stop His love for us – repentance is the key to be free – don’t allow the enemy or yourself keep you bound from the presence of God.  We need to get in His presence to repent!  This passage speaks of His ability, Love, Grace and Mercy towards us to bring us to a place of freedom – the hills are our stumbling blocks – He a bounds over them to get to your heart –Wow, now that is a lover!

“There he is behind the wall, looking through the window, peering into the room” – many times in our walk, we may hear “The Holy Spirit is a gentleman” – Here is a perfect picture of that. Peering into the room – to me, speaks about our heart – Yes, He sees what is in there and still says “Rise up my Lover, come away with me, my darling”.  Are you getting this!  He sees what we think we are able to hide from Him and He still calls us away with Him. Talk about one that loves unconditionally!

He is not going to bust into the scene most cases, unless we ask.  He gives us an open invitation to always go away with Him – it is up to us to accept it.

I am going to do this passage in two parts – so we can take in what is being said in this blog and passage of scripture so we can position our hearts to move into the “next season” of our walk in Christ!  It is going to be fun to share the next part – come with an open heart to receive what the Lord has for you!

Blessings,

Les Tomlinson, Jr.
