On Being a Missionary

The Great Commisson God's Global Drama

Genisis 12;3   (NKJV) " I will bless those who bless You, and I will curse him who curse you;and all the families of the earth shall be blessed."

Mark 16;14-18  (NKJ)   14 Afterward he (JESUS) appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

1. Begin to Pray and seek God's face in solitude and Surrendering to His will. Spending time developing an ability to interact with God and discern his voice through the Word and prayer should be a daily habit along with memorizing His word.  Be attentive to the Holy Spirit where He wants you to go.

Look at how God has been equipping you so far. Knowing you are called to God's work and His Plan and doing it is upon you as a follower of Christ not men. Not all people are going to go to the mission field, Many dont go beyond exploring because they are yet to experiance a specific call, Yet if you feel called or know that it's God's will for you, you best get ready for an Adventure that will change your life! Know that its a command to do what He wills for you. If you dont, He will send someone else to do it!  developing your ability to interact with God and discern his voice through the Word and prayer. Look at how God has been equipping you so far.

The world doesn't need more of you – it needs more of God. Devote yourself to knowing God,

2. Understand where the 10/20 Window is, Pray for the unreached people of the world. Know the Globe and it's needs.

Read stories about missionaries/biographies of ordinary people doing extraordinary things by God. Write to cross cultural workers on the field and commit to praying for them – they will be so encouraged and so will you.

3. Be Mission Minded. Search out churches which are Mission Minded, Its Important to have a home church that supports your calling.  Live in communitiy, look for people who have relationships with Missionaries. Get involved, Work with Missionaries at the home front.  Develop a witnessing lifestyle – get involved in outreach where you are now. If you can't do it at home you won't do it overseas. Get out of yourself. Every cross‐cultural worker needs to seek to meet the needs of others – it is what Jesus did.

"Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given and sink yourself into

that! Don't be impressed with yourself don't compare yourself with others. Each of you must take

responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life."

Galatians 6 v 3‐5 The Message

"Twenty years from now, you'll be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than the ones you did.

So throw off the bowlines. Leave the still waters of the harbor. Catch the trade winds with your sail!"

Mark Twain

One final thought and word of encouragement ‐

"But I solemnly swear to keep you safe in the boat, with your wife and sons and their wives."

Genesis 6 v18

"Finally, the day came when the Lord said to Noah; go into the boat with all your family, for among all

the people of the earth, I consider you alone to be righteous."

4. Live simple, learn to let go of materialism. Give away what you don't need, don't buy in excess. eat simple. Love Much and go and be a blessing!  Everyday you are in your mission field, where you live, where you walk, wherever you Go, So walk in the way of the Masters Plan....Just DO IT!

We are A Blessing TO Bless!
