Ministry Vs day Job

Can you have a ministry and still have a day job?  What is ministry - if we break it down - ministry is fulfilling the call upon your life.  Bringing the Light of Jesus to wherever you may walk on this earth!  your ministry may be releasing the Love of Jesus through the gift of helps, hospitality, faith, healing and preaching.  Does your work place need Jesus?  Does your community need to see the Love of God?  If you have come to realize your ministry in Jesus - many will come to see it is not just to minister in the safety of the four walls of your church - but to those that are broken outside of it.

You need to see that you have a ministry just like others - you may not be called to stand in front our your church each Sunday - but you are called!  Think about in this way - how can your Pastor meet the needs of those in your work place, those in your community?  They can't meet every need.  Jesus left us the Holy Spirit that we might do the things He did and greater - Your ministry is your calling - walking out in the character of Christ to spread the good news to all that will listen!

I know many people that move in powerful Ministry but still have a job that supports their family.  Not every ministry will be supported financially but a church.  We must not get discouraged - but push through!  My wife and I - at this point, still have day jobs - but we must look past that and see how and where can we release the presence of God within our surroundings!

My wife has had the opportunity to pray for some of the patients that come into their office and share the Love of Jesus.  Is this ministry?  Yes it is - do not look down on small opportunities - but strike while the iron is hot!  We do not need the church alter, platform or music to be a minister to the hurting world.

I want to encourage you to stand strong in what you feel the Lord has called you to be in His Kingdom.  Do not neglect your ministry due to the fact that its not all wrapped up in a pretty box with the lights and glamor...but be who you are in the market place.  take the ministry that is birthed in you to the streets - do not rob your community - but let them know who Jesus is today!

The Lord has created many people to minister in the market place - they need to have believers around walking in an anointing that brings healing, words of wisdom, words of knowledge, powerful faith, miracles and so on - they need you to take your place in Christ and be the ambassador you are called to be!

The other day - I was at a burger joint - there was a gentlemen sitting across from me - So I asked the Lord if He had anything to say to this man...In my spirit i began to hear he had a 14 year old daughter -full of life and she was called to bring the joy of the Lord to many to show His love to those that are broken.  I went up to the guy and asked him if he had a daughter, He said yes - I said is she around 14-15 years old...he gave me a look like -Who are you - but he said she was 14- I went on to tell him what I felt the Lord said - He said that was exactly his daughter!

Why did God do that - One I asked - Second the Lord wanted to encourage this young girl to follow after Him - I told the gentlemen to go home and share this with his daughter and He said he would - Is that ministry?  YES - it was outside of the church and our typical comfort zone - but we need to walk in the ways of the Lord!

Be encouraged - the Lord has a plan for your life - do not get bummed out because you have a day job at this time of your walk - seek, ask God for direction - but give what you have, where you are at and watch the Lord move!

Be Blessed,

Les Tomlinson, Jr.
