Hello friends! Hope you are well...and have given prayer and thought to the desires that are within your heart. I want to continue on this topic to bring further clarity on how we should respond to such desires that are to build the kingdom of God!
Once we settle in our heart, mind and spirit that the desire is from Heaven, what do we do next? Many Christians have taken that dream, passion or desire and sat it on the shelf in hopes one day the Lord would come by and bring it into existence. He did come by, He is the one that put the desire in our heart - now it is up to us to seek it out in prayer, reading the word and sharing with leadership.
It is important to share your Godly desires and passions that are able to build up the Kingdom with the leadership of your church. One of their roles is to support, mentor and help guide you into walking out those desires.
I will share an example of a desire - In 1999 I had a desire to reach the youth of the church to teach, equip and release them into their potential in Christ. At that time, I was not ordained to be a "Youth Pastor" in the eyes of the church - but was qualified by the Lord - I went to the Pastor and expressed my desire and passion to minister to the youth of our church; he agreed and in the summer of 1999 we start our youth group.
Our youth group ran for 6 straight years. We had so many wild nights in prayer and worship - a monumental building block if walk.
Prior to that youth ministry, our church really had issues in trying to keep the youth group running - the four years prior to me starting it up - I could only remember one that tried and did not succeed.
We need to make a clear line between having a passion and calling to do something vs someone trying to fill in a gap and not called to be in that position at that time - usually when that takes place, two things come about - 1. No Fruit - 2. The group crumbles. We all have a purpose and plan to walk out, we need to seek the timing to do so.
Rule 1 - Just because you have a passion, desire or dream does not always mean "now is the time" to be in that season.
A. It must be covered in prayer - get others to pray with you for direction, timing and clarity.
B. We need wisdom to walk in this desire - James says - If any man lack wisdom, ask for it! Seek out what others have done within
the same passion - you may be able to find wisdom that will keep you out of pit falls they may have encountered - Do not rely on your
C. Search the Word - What does the Bible have to say about that desire or passion that is in you to build up the Kingdom?
D. Purpose / Mission - What is your goal in this desire -we must have a goal to aim for - this will help keep us on track and bring us
Rule 2 - Have others stand with you as a team - seek to find those that have a desire or passion that is inline with yours - you need a team - we are not called to do kingdom business alone - but with the help of the Body. We do not want to be ignorant to this - many have found out the hard way -either getting hurt or hurting others.
Having a team creates accountability, integrity, humility and brings forth the heart of God. We are called to push each other in the things of God, what better way then to have a team!
I will end it here for now...remember, do not let the enemy, the world or your own mind rob you of this passion. Stand strong in the spirit, fight for what is yours - walk in what the Lord has called you to be!
