Open the eyes of our heart - Eph. 1:18

Ephesians 1:17-19
17 [For I always pray to] the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, that He may grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation [of insight into mysteries and secrets] in the [deep and intimate] knowledge of Him,
18 By having the eyes of your heart flooded with light, so that you can know and understand the hope to which He has called you, and how rich is His glorious inheritance in the saints (His set-apart ones),
19 And [so that you can know and understand] what is the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His power in and for us who believe, as demonstrated in the working of His mighty strength,
What a great prayer Paul released over the Church in Ephesus...He understood that there was more than just teaching the about Jesus, but there was a spiritual awaking that needed to take place for the believers to walk in all that God had for them ~ the same is for us today,,,we must have the eyes of our heart open to the heavenly realm and the movement of His Spirit. Leaders in the body need to pray this over their congregations daily!
The first thing is to get to a place to understanding the intimacy Christ so desires from us; out of that comes the revelation of who He is and His heart for this world. To have our eyes opened is not for ourselves, but to be a beacon of light to those that are lost...I believe this is a daily thing we must seek after to find out the depths of His love ~ ask for a revelation of His wisdom and an understanding of His love that He has for us.
Paul went on to say that by having the eyes of your heart flooded with light - of course this is the Light and revelation of Jesus - the more darkness we bring to the light the more awareness we gain of His Spirit ~ I want to say this...not all darkness in our heart is of evil - meaning, there are some areas that we may need to adjust or reconsider, or just an area that we may not have been taught in - that does not mean you are saved nor trying to live for Jesus - but Paul is saying "I am praying that an awaking will take place" in your spirit, heart and mind towards Jesus.
We are called to walk in this wisdom and revelation ~ I believe we must ask the Lord to reveal the things of His heart to us. Seek after the spirit of wisdom in all areas of Salvation.
James 1:5
If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God [Who gives] to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him.
All believers are growing, or at least we should be - we must ask the Lord to open the eyes of our heart to see, hear, and feel the movement of His Spirit. By asking,, we are saying, Lord reveal to me the things in which I do not know. We must ask, pray and seek after His wisdom and revelation on a daily basis. Many of us are in circumstances that we can see the way out - who are you running to first, the Lord or a friend? He is the friend with the answer - of course I am not saying, don’t go seek advice - but make sure you have laid it out before the Lord first ~ then be thoughtful who you go speak too...not all friends have the best advice!
Jeremiah 33:3
3 Call to Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things, fenced in and hidden, which you do not know (do not distinguish and recognize, have knowledge of and understand).
What are the great, mighty and hidden things the Lord has for you, your family, your Church, your work place and your community? Father, open the eyes of our heart that we might come to a revelation of your Love for these areas of my life today! We need to ask for these things...The Fathers heart is much bigger than what we think, we need to seek after Him to find out how, when and what part we are called to walk out to see His Glory brought to these places!
James 4:2
2 You lust and do not have; so you commit murder. You are envious and cannot obtain; so you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask.3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask [c]with wrong motives, so that you may spend it [d]on your pleasures
Without taking this verse out of context, there are two spiritual principles we must take from this passage... 1 ~we have not, because we ask not. 2 ~ we have not because we asked with wrong motives.
Do you have His glory flowing out of your walk on a daily basis - I don’t think any of us do - But are we asking? Why are we asking?
I am asking for wisdom, revelation and His Glory to flow through me that it will demonstrate who He is and the power of His salvation. I want to move in the power of His Holy Spirit to bring freedom to the captives and I need the eyes of my heart ot be opened and the Light of Jesus to shine on everything that is not of Him or needs to be corrected!
I encourage you today to begin to ask for wisdom, revelation and to see, hear and feel the movement of the Holy Spirit in your walk. That we might find the secrets He has for all areas of our walk. That we wouldn't live a day without knowing it was fulfilled per His prepared plans He has for us!
Be Blessed
