Who can minister for Jesus? Some may not like this blog due to the fact that I am going to say that all that call on the name of Jesus and have a personal relationship with Him have the right, ablity and responisbility to minister to those that are lost or are in need.
I am not saying that all are called to be Pastors? I thank God for the men and women that carry that mantle, calling and purpose. But we need to realize that they are just a part of the Kingdom. God set it up so we all play are role and have a part to bring His light into darkness. We are told in Matthew 4 the following:
14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a [f]hill cannot be hidden; 15 nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a [g]basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
What does it mean to minister? We must understand that this word can be used as a noun and a verb - meaning it could represent a person or an action. We are going to focus on the "action".
Minister - to serve, provide for, help meet someones need.
All believers are called to serve the body in one way or another. We seve the body or those that are in need by the calling, gifts and purpose the Lord has birthed in us. Each of us have a role to play - it is up to us to find it and fulfill it! Again we are talking about the action and not a person.
How can we minister to the Body? We should all have a servants heart. Some may be further off then others in this role, we should be growing daily to become the servant we need to be for Christ!
You can minister with the gift of helps, hospitality, healing, faith, words of knowledge, wisdom and so on. We do not need to be a Pastor to be used to minister for the Kingdom. A Pastor can not be in all places at all times to meet all the needs. that is why we are called the Body and we are needing to work as the Body. We need to pray for our Pastors, ask God to give them the grace and direction to lead their church.
One way to minister is to push others into their place in the Body. Don't worry about them taking your place - there is always something we can do an minister Christ to this hurting world.
My point is this, I want us to come to a place to realize, Yes - You are able to minister even if you are not one that is called a Pastor. Of course we want to use wisdom and follow and submit to leadership - I do not suggest to just run off and do what you want to do - No be led by the Holy Spirit, stay in tune with your leadership team, but realize that you are able to be used to minister for Christ.
To many people sit in the church today and think that they dont have a role to play - You were created to be a minister of Jesus - It is time to stop sitting around and expecting the leadership to do everything - Now maybe some of you go to a church where it is suggested just the opposite - that only the leaders can minister. IF that be the case, it is time to pray, seek after what you purpose and calling is - ask the Holy Spirit to reveal how you are able to minister.
At times, if you have a heart full of love and Joy and you just smile at someone, you are able to minister the Love of God through that action - you are smiling because you feel and know that Jesus loves you - that love can spread to someone that is hurting and God can work through you to bring freedom.
To wrap this up, if you call on the Name of Jesus, have a personal relationship with Him - you are able to minister His word and move in the gifts that bring freedom to those that are hurting. Ask the Lord to use you today and be open when the time comes to minister!
How wonderfully refreshing. Praise God! There are so many everyday people whom God has given gifts and talents to that are not being used for so many reasons. Too often it is because a pastor or priest might lose control of their power within a body if "just anyone" could minister. There are also those who think they are not entitled because they are not trained. I say the traing, healing, restoration, and salvation always comes from God and we are the earthly vessels He uses. Is that not what Jesus did, so how can we do any less? Thank you for your blog.
