Eggs and Rabbits? Only Jesus

Easter! – It is seen as a happy time of bunnies, colored eggs and parades, not to forget the bonnets. I think that’s it.  Do we associate anything else with it?  Hmm… There is some obscure teaching about Ishtar, a pagan goddess of fertility, but that’s sort of ambiguous. Oh yea, of course we have Jesus. I hope you sense my sarcasm…J

Our focus at this time of the year is not about colored eggs and rabbits. Unfortunately, the church has embraced as with many holidays, the pagan symbols that infiltrate churches that are Christian. I’ve never been very comfortable with Easter egg hunts that are held at some churches.

Christians are to celebrate the Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ yearly.

Let us be ever so careful of tolerance and compromise.  Sad to say that we have done enough of that.  Here’s the thing: It is the inspired Word of God that is replaced by the lies of Satan.  The Bible is clear on what we are to celebrate.  Why?  Because it is inspired by God.  Inspiration has been denied since Eve and the Serpent.

Satan said, “Hey Eve, don’t believe what God said, He is not telling the whole truth.”  In other words, God is a liar!  That was the beginning of compromise, and we have been on a downward slope since then. It was the beginning of the drift away from God.

The inspiration of God is overshadowed by the wisdom of man. There was a time when the Bible was revered and referenced in our political, social and educational systems.  We need to get back to it.  Many might think it is too late, nonsense!  The best place for us to start is found in the Bible, 2 Chronicles 7:14

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

It is time to get started, to pray and believe …
