Persecution: A Believer's Treasure!

Earlier today, I received an email from one of my friends here at "True." She had been quite upset that an atheist had given her a very hard time about the beliefs she professed in the Lord. I did my best to encourage my friend, my sister in Christ. Many of us have been in "her shoes" and it's never any fun when it happens...

Persecution, however, is something believers endure as a part of a Godly life, lved out for others to see. It has been this way since the days fo Christ, and before. In the words of Christ found in the passage of (John 15:18), which says:

"If the world hates you, remember they hated me first."

Sadly, as many Christians as there are in this world, there are many more who have rejected the Savior. It has been that way for centuries upon centuries! Because of this, it is easy to feel that we fight an "uphill battle" against sin. And, guess what, it's exactly the way it is!

But we carry a message which is "other worldly." We preach hope for a future reward to a world which wants it's riches RIGHT NOW! It makes things hard to gain "traction" or credibility in the heart and mind which has been conditioned and hardened by this world's pleasures and delights.

Nevertheless, we must press on with the message. It is our job to "spread the seeds" of righteousness, and water the garden. It is up to God to "give the increase" as He wills. And we need to always remember God is with us at every turn. Also, He will reward us for performance of our duties in His name.

Remember the words of (Matthew 5: 11-12):

Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you for my name's sake. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven..."

Stay encouraged and refreshed in the Lord's blessings!
