Proverbs 18:22 He who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor from theLORD.
A few years back, in reading this proverb, the Word of the Lord came to me and said, "he who FINDS a wife, not he who LOOKS for a wife, FINDS a good thing". Now during this time, I myself was single and ready to get back "on the market", and the Word of the Lord said, "Stop LOOKING for her and FIND her. Let Me(God) place her in your path". What I found out was that, I was LOOKING for my wife by dating and not by allowing God to bring to me what He had in mind. I was going after everything that appealed to me. And He(God) said "stop and allow Me to give her to you". So I stopped. A year of not "LOOKING". And His instructions to me were "GO TO WORK, do the things which I would have you to do today. Focus on ME."
GO TO WORK
"Go to work" at that time was me focusing on my calling; helping to developing young men at my church by getting involved with our youth ministry on a regular basis. And the word or passages of scriptures that God gave me to hold on to was Genesis, chapter 2. And in this chapter, God showed me how the process of "FINDING" a wife is suppose to take place.
Genesis 2:15-Then the LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it, in other words, "go to work". At this point in the Bible or even the history of the earth, it was just Adam and God, and what He the Lord was showing me was that there has to be a time in a mans life, where it is just he and God, and that man beginning "his work". So this is where I began mine. During this time, I got to know God for myself thereby developing a relationship with Him and also me finding out "my work" in that season.
Genesis 2:18-And the Lord God said, "It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him." It wasn't Adam that said that he was lonely, but as he went about his "work", God saw the need of companionship. Adam was was "working", busy working; naming cattle, every beast of the field and every bird of the air. Now in the process of "working", staying busy, Adam then realized his desire for a helper, someone comparable to him, so God created him a "woman".
As for me, by "going to work", I "FOUND" what I have seen to be my wife. I wasn't "LOOKING" for her. I didn't even really see her until God revealed her to me in the process of me doing my "work". I was content with it just being God and myself. I was busy. But thankfully He wasn't. God saw a need for my helper to arrive. And yes my "work" continues, it has even expanded and she is helping me every step of the way.
This is what has been revealed to me about "FINDING" a wife. And this is what I encourage you all to do. Follow the pattern(Genesis 2:15-25) that was laid out for us from the beginning and you will find your blessing.
***Men: STOP LOOKING because you'll end up with something.
***Women: STOP PUTTING YOURSELF OUT THERE TO BE SEEN because somebody will grab you up. And in both cases, you don't just want something or somebody, but you should want Gods best, and He has your wife or your husband in His plans for you.
