I had heard it again in less than a week. Jesus Himself taught that “…in the mouth of two orthree witnesses every word may be established”(Matthew 18:16 KJV) so the message I was hearing over and over was one that was vitally important to my life. But, not just to me, to every individual on this planet. The message was simple, yet powerful, “you can have the life youdesire by the words which you speak”. There are several things that statement says to me. One, I have the power within my mouth to create. Remember yesterday’s blog where I wrote about you and me being filled with all the fullness of God? Is God not a God who creates? Did He not “say” and it was? Then does it not stand to reason if we have Him inside of us there is the potential to turn things around in every one of our lives by that which is coming out of our mouth? “Thou are snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thymouth”(Proverbs 6:2 KJV). The word “snared” means “to be entrapped” and the word “taken” means “to capture”. Honestly I am not trying to put any of us under bondage. On the contrary, I am trying to set us free. Our mouths have gotten every one of us into a heap of trouble over time. We have tired the hands of a Heavenly Father who longs to give to us more than we can even imagine. We have tied the hands of angels who watch over us from ministering to each one of us as they have been assigned to do. And we have closed off the supply to our needs because we have been rash in statements falling from our lips.
The second thing the statement I heard says to me is, like a well springing up within me, my words have the power to produce life. With the wisdom of heaven in his soul, Solomon penned, “The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life…”(Proverbs 10:11 KJV). Don’t tell me that as a child of God you are not righteous because you are. It matters not if you have the feeling of being righteous, because once you and I are in Christ Jesus we have been declared righteous by God the Father. In fact, we can’t get any more righteous than we are right now. So, with the righteousness of Christ wrapped around me, with my present standing before the Throne of God of one being clean, then walking in the principle which the Holy Spirit is speaking to my heart about I can release the well from within my heart and walk in a life that people only dream about.
Just so you don’t think that what I am blogging about today is simply an Old Testament idea let me give you what Jesus said. The New Century Version of scripture puts it this way, “The words you have said will be used to judge you. Some of your words will prove you right, but some of your words will prove you guilty."(Matthew 12:37) Ouch! That hurts. Yet, have you not found that in your lifetime that has often been the case? So, words do matter. What flows from within us and comes out our mouths has the potential of being a wonderful blessing to our life or setting us back time and time again.
Do you want to change your life? Do you long to see your family blessed, your finances blessed, your children blessed, your job blessed, your church blessed, your life blessed? Are you sick and tired of repeating the same old stuff time and time again? Then speak words of life over everything that surrounds you and stop speaking death. Stand your ground. Don’t waver. Don’t let friends or family talk you out of what you know is true. Speak God’s word over circumstances that are surrounding you. And by faith I assure you on the authority of the word of God you and I can have what we say.
“Father, in the Name of Jesus, I thank you that I am a new creation in Christ Jesus, and because I am a new creature, I will speak of excellent things, and the opening of my lips shall be right things. For my mouth shall speak truth and wickedness is an abomination to my lips. All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; and there is nothing froward or perverse in them. They are plain to him that understandeth and right to them that find knowledge.
My lips feed many because I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. My tongue is as choice silver, and my mouth bringeth forth wisdom because I am the just. My lips know what is acceptable and my lips shall establish truth forever. I am a delight to the Lord, for I deal truly. My lips shall preserve me and I use knowledge aright because I am wise. Wisdom is found in my lips because I have understanding.
I have a wholesome tongue and it is a tree of life. Pleasant words are always in my mouth, because they are as a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and health to my bones. My words are as deep waters and the wellspring of wisdom as a flowing brook. God has given me wisdom and out of my mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. My mouth is a well of life. Death and life are in the power of my tongue, and I choose life. Therefore, I will not let any corrupt communication proceed out of my mouth. I will not speak evil of any man.
My thoughts are right because I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. I think on things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely and of good report.
I have been transformed by the renewing of my mind with the Word of God because I have the mind of Christ and the wisdom of God. I am an imitator of Jesus”.
