Religion Screams, but Grace Speaks

A few days back while setting at my computer I begin to hear within my spirit the words “Religion screams, but grace speaks”. I thought to myself, how true. Have you ever heard the voice of religion? It is condemning, rude, inclusive, prejudice, harsh, demanding, arrogant, and if allowed will confine you and me to a box that will squeeze the very life out of us if it can. And many a person finds themselves in that position even right now. Religion drains the joy out of the countenance. It removes the spring out of the step. It makes the shoulders droop, the legs to feel like weights, the hands to hang down and the tongue to grow silent in being able to praise God. Religion is such a hard taskmaster. I ought to know because I preached it far way too many years. I held a bar up so high that no one could get over, including me. Thank God a light has begun to dawn. Thank God the Father has been merciful to me and is allowing me to see a better way. Allow me to show you what I mean. While going through the word of God and doing some comparisons, here is a little of what I have begun to see. By no means is it complete. But, it is a start, even for me.
Religion screams that there are too many failures in my life. Grace speaks, “Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me” (Micah 7:8 KJV) Religion screams you will have to be set on a shelf and your ministry is over, but grace speaks, “The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth” (Psalm 145:18 KJV) then again grace speaks, “The Lord preserveth all that love him:…”(Psalm 145:20 KJV) Religion screams kick them out, but grace speaks, “…Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more”.(John 8:11 KJV) Religion screams that you are too far gone and you will never amount to anything again, but grace speak, “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is”.(1 John 3:2 KJV) Religion screams, “You will answer some day for the sins that you have committed”, but grace speaks, “…being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him”.(Romans 5:9 KJV) Religion screams, “generational curses keep you in the bondage”, but grace speaks, “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree”.(Galatians 3:13 KJV) Religion screams, “God is teaching you something through the pain and suffering you are having to endure”, but grace speaks, “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed”.(Isaiah 53:5KJV) Religion screams, “Condemnation!”, but grace speaks, “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus…”(Romans 8:1 KJV)
Let me ask you a question. On which side of the scale do you want to find yourself being weighed on? The religion side or the grace side? For me, I choose grace. Religion makes me sweat. It makes me work for my salvation. It lifts a bar so high that it is impossible for any of us to get over. It causes me to question my salvation from week to week or day to day. It produces fear in my heart. It berates me. It controls me. Pardon me if this sounds too harsh a word, but it rapes me of my dignity. No wonder crowds flocked to the Galilean who came preaching a different message than what the people had been custom to hearing. They heard hope, strength, courage, life, no wonder the officers which had been sent to arrest Jesus returned empty handed and gave this declaration of him, “…Never man spake like this man”.(John 7:46 KJV) He is still speaking. It’s the voice of grace. A voice if received will heal the brokenhearted, bring deliverance to the captives, provide sight to the blind, and give liberty to those who have been bruised.
Get in on the graced side my friend it is the ONLY side where there is freedom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
