Milk of the Word or Strong Meat?

Milk of the Word or Strong Meat?

Heb 5:12-6:1...For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

Hebrews 6:1...Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection

In the closing part of Hebrews 5 the writer of this Epistle is addressing the Hebrew people who had been delivered from the Law of Moses by the Grace of God that came from the crucifixion of Christ. Christ had purchased the Church with His own blood. These Hebrews were raised under Mosiac Law in culture, bloodline, heritage, and religious practice. These Jewish people had offered doves, lambs, and bullocks to the Levitical Priest...as acts for their faith by keeping Mosiac Law. These faithful Jewish acts of sacrificial offering to the priest showed the Jews obedience to the Law of Moses, but the death of Christ showed them something different. The death of Christ showed these Jewish people Divine Grace based on what Christ did..not human religious works anymore. These people had experienced the effect of the Grace of God that flowed from Calvary. These people had tasted the power of Holy Spirit's witness that changed their hearts and lives. They had received the "strong meat" and had come to the "full age" of becoming children of God. Full age did not mean they were gradually becoming holy. Full age mean't they were made holy and right by the Grace of God. These people had actually experienced the miracle of the new birth that comes from the Spirit of God and the cross at Calvary.

Then...they left the Grace of God! They began offering doves, lambs, and bullocks to the priest once again. They had strong meat, they were of full age, they were saved by Grace...but they weren't satisfied. They went back to Law. They turned away from Divine Grace but should have been teachers of Grace. They gave up the effects from the sacrifice of Christ on the cross at Calvary for their justification. They went back to religious works and practice of Jewish Law. Instead of Christ dying once and for all, they decided to practice Jewish Law and leave Grace. How sad! they left Christianity and went back to Judahism. Milk in this passage related to the Law of Moses. Strong meat in this passage related to the Divine Grace of God in the Church Age. They became unskilful in the Word of God. They left the God-given state of holiness and heart purity from the person of Christ and went backwards to the milk of the word as babes. They turned their backs on Christ and the effects of saving Grace that flows from belief in His death, burial, and resurrection.

These Jewish people went back to the first priciples of the doctrine of Christ. Christ was Jewish, Christ lived under Law, Christ practiced Law, Christ taught the Law, and Christ died under Law. These principles were the only principles Jewish people knew before Christ suffered and died and purchased the Church with His blood. What were those principles? The 613 laws that God gave Israel. The Torah! Christ fullfilled the Law and the Prophets. The Law was the milk. Grace was strong meat. Milk was for babes. Strong meat was for those of full age. Maturity is not taught in this passage. Full age means complete, holy, and perfect. Milk of the Word was based on what man did. Strong meat came from what Christ did and what He's now from the the Throneroom.

That's why Hebrew 6:1 teaches ...Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection

Perfection relates to the power of God's Grace that's given to the heart of the believer in Christ through redemption on the cross. Perfection comes to those who are of "full age". Perfection came to these Hebrew people when they left the principles of the doctrine of Christ (The Law of Moses) and went onto perfection (The Grace of God). The only way any man can receive the Grace of God is through faith in Christ's redemptive work at Calvary. What he did and what He's doing right now as a High Priest after the order of Melchizedek. Glory! We today in the church have gone on to this same perfection. God's perfection is strong meat and it makes believers in Christ ...of full Age. No maturing process in the new birth. God's Grace makes people that way. We are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus. If any man be in Christ he is a new creature! Glory! The Bible says so! God says so!

Christians are no longer under the Law of Moses. Christians are not to practice principles of the doctrine of Christ. Christians (especially Jewish beleivers) are to go on to Grace (Perfection). Read it! It says... Let us go on to perfection! Leave the principles of the doctrine of Christ! That's what the Bible teaches when it's rightly divided. Perfection is not a bad word its Bible truth. Christian's come to Full Age and its not a maturing process. This is the language of the Bible! It's time my Brothers and Sisters to get back to the truth of the Bible!
