ARE YOU UNDER BONDAGE OR ARE YOU FREE? I THOUGHT I WAS LIVING THE CHRISTIAN LIFE AND NOT UNDER BONDAGE UNTIL....

Being under bondage and not knowing it can bring spiritual stagnation.I knew I had a problem but I didn't know what it was. I didn't feel at peace. I felt frustrated when I tried to do something for the fellowship group and it fell like a lead balloon.I was feeling a lack of cohesiveness in the group. There was gossip and discord in the group.Love did not abound.

During this time, I found myself spending more time in the Word and in prayer and conversation with God. He faithfully wakes me and I look forward to that time and what He has for me. The devotional I read and the Bible passages He gives me are always very particular to the day and the circumstances. I find guidance, encouragement, and delight in the love God pours out in His Word to me.

I went to a conference for the first time in about ten years. I went alone, something I didn't do in the past. I got lost but I did finally get there and that was a sense of accomplishment in itself. The worship was so different from what I had experienced in the last seven years. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I saw people I hadn't seen in many years. I heard an incredible message from Don Nori that went along with his book I was reading His Magnificent Presence. It was about change and growing in knowing God. I was definitely in a period of change in my life having left the fellowship I'd been with for seven years. As I listened, I realized I had been in bondage, that I hadn't been getting a balanced message. I was free! I was joyful!

God has directed me to a new church home. The song being sung when I arrived was about being free. The message was on the cost of discipleship. I had just paid a price gladly. I knew I was in the right place.

I am sad about those I said good by to, but I pray they, too, will come to realization that their devotion is to a man and not to God. Meanwhile God's word to me is to look forward, not behind. He has told me I will see and do things I have never dreamt of. He has helped me so much through this time in so many ways. His love is so great and I am ever so grateful for Him rescuing me and setting my feet on the path He intends for me.
