In todays world were are so consumed with materialism that were prepared to compromise our morals to get to that goal. I have a friend whom I consider to be a good guy, but because of his job working for a credit card company, he has to compromise his morals in order to keep his job and perform better.
He assesses credit card applications and he is told to find flaws in people's applications, any blemish on a person's credit history the higher the interest rate they will pay it starts of with the pristine ones and goes all the way down to those who can only get bad credit credit cards. Of course, his employer wants him to find as many blemishes as possible without the customer being un-credit-worthy, so he looks for these little mistakes and points them out to customer as the reason their interest rate in higher than other people's. In reality he realises that anybody can make a mistake that goes onto their credit history and that it doesn't mean that person is necessarily more risky than others.
I work in walmart and I see that the higher people go in management the more they must bend, change, and sometimes discard thier morals. They are incouraged to lie to keep people passive and uniformed as to what is behind some of the dumb decisions they make. I am saddened that people choose to continue up the ladder for the sake of more money regardless of the requested adhering to policies that encourage lying. I can understand not realizing the situation until they are in the midst of it, but even when they realize it, they continue in it because they need the money. They can make it with a lesser job, they just dont want to lose the money.... so sad.
