Stuck under the bed

Ever really wanted to make a change in your life, but either been too scared to try something different or you just haven't known where to start?

Before I go to bed every night, I do the rounds of my three children. Check their blankets are on, check they're still breathing(lol), make sure their music is switched off...etc....all those 'parental' things. (actually I've never seen Jose do all that, I think it's a 'Mum' thang(amendment: He argues He always does that!!)

Anyway, last week I did my usual rounds, and came to my daughter Keely's room. Her younger sister, Zion, had swindled her way in again and was supposed to be sleeping on the mattress on Keely's floor. But the mattress was empty, Keely was in her bed, but no Zion. Next I heard a whimpering, half cry coming from under Keely's bed. And there was Zion right under her bed in the far corner still half asleep but trying to work out where she was.
We dragged her out and put her back on her mattress, and I calmed her down, dried her wet sweaty head, and she went back to sleep. All was good.

But I think sometimes we find ourselves in that same place. We start off in a good place, but somehow while we're busy 'sleeping', we wake up to find we're backed into a corner and we have no clue where we are or even how to get out of that place!

I was listening to my husband preach in church this morning, and a simple thing he said just jumped out at me. He said something like, 'we sometimes get ourselves lost and don't know which way we're meant to be heading. And if we just picked up the Word of God it would give us the direction we need!'

Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path. Psalm 119:105 (NKJV)

That really couldn't be any clearer! I amaze myself at how ridiculous I can be sometimes; I look for all the answers everywhere else and the Bible is sitting right in front of me, and I forget how full of direction and wisdom and power it really is.

Lord give me the kick I need to open your Word at every moment!
