Essentially, sin is the commission of any action that is against the wishes and instructions of God as given to us from within the Bible. However, an aspect of sin that is not generally considered is not doing the wishes and instructions given to us by God. An example of this would be as simple as the instruction to love our neighbors as our selves, but as we know, this particular event does not happen that often and is, in fact, a sin… Sin is sin and there is no degree to the event. There are no sins that are less serious than others. God views all sin as the same and hates it when we sin.
We know that it is impossible not to sin, but it is not impossible to try to reduce the amount of sinning that we do. We are told to adhere to all rules and regulations of our civil laws. That condition creates an interesting problem, because if we were to merely break the speed limit on our highways, we are, in fact, sinning. The real problem exists as we disregard more and more of the instructions given to us from within the Bible. As we accept certain behavior as being normal, we find that as time goes on, we disregard more and more sinful acts as being acceptable.
It is astounding what we as Christians allow as being suitable behavior. There are many acts that are so far out of alignment with biblical doctrine that it becomes difficult to understand how anyone could accept these activities without regard to the wishes of God. The number and variety of denominations is one of the causes for this lack of respect for the wishes of God. Agenda seems to be more important than precision when it comes to the Christian requirements that would please God. Knowing that we are sinning in spite of biblical doctrine can only lead to disaster; and possibly interfere with our relationship with God.
No one is perfect, but that should not be an excuse for not attempting to lead a more Christian life and align our actions more towards doctrine. The only answer to all aspects of Christian life is to unify our churches into a single Bible based institution. There is only one God, and only one Bible and there should only be one Church……….
