I don't mean to disparage or offend anyone, but maybe someone can answer my question. I have been hearing the term "born again Christian" for about thirty years now and it confuses me. By this I mean that I always thought that everyone who comes to faith in Christ and has a new beginning has been born again. Over the years I have heard that some born agains have had what is commonly known as a religious experience. These experiences might make some feel special, but we who have been Christians since we were little kids thanks to our parents sometimes feel special too. My question is simple. In the eyes of God are born agains different than "regular" Christians? Can anyone help me with this? Thanks. 1Peter 1:23 since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God;
True born again experience comes from God but we being human tends to give different meaning and perception on being born again. For me being born again starts when we / you repent of our sins and accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Now in the process we doubt being born again because seems the old nature is still there but comes sanctification or our path or journey to maturity which is different in time for everyone. Even now people who are against Christians may change their mind and heart and be converted. Time will tell if we are really born again.
