Problems Encountered by LED Street Lights Manufacturers in Demonstration Applications
Compared with traditional street lights manufacturers represented by high-pressure sodium lights, Led street lights Manufacturers(CLASSICLEDLIGHT) have many obvious and potential advantages.
(1) The high luminous efficiency and low energy consumption
Facts have proved that replacing 250W high-pressure sodium light street lights used on secondary roads with 100W LED street lights with scientific and reasonable light distribution can not only meet the average illuminance required by road lighting standards but also greatly improve the uniformity. However, the average illuminance of high-pressure sodium lights may be higher in some areas, but the uniformity is very poor. Thus, LED street lights have considerable energy-saving space.
(2) Long service life
The life of street light directly affects the maintenance cost of the whole road lighting. At present, the service life of high-pressure sodium lights is generally about 20,000 hours, the service life of high-pressure sodium lights for road lighting is only about 5,000 hours, and the service life of high-power LED is generally 50,000 to 70,000 hours.
(3) Good color rendering
Although the high-pressure sodium light has the highest luminous efficiency in traditional light sources, it's color rendering is the worst, and it's color rendering index Ra is only about 20. Such poor color rendering can only help people to detect the road conditions, and cannot help pedestrians to distinguish clearly. The color rendering index of LED can reach about 80, which is basically close to natural light. The color rendering of the LED is more realistic and can reflect the color of the object itself. The high color rendering of LED is undoubtedly helpful for drivers and pedestrians to identify targets and provide better traffic conditions under the same road brightness.
(4) Quick Start
Incandescent light lights up at one point, but the actual starting time is about 0.1~0.2 seconds. Gas discharge lights such as high-pressure sodium lights and metal halide lights need tens of seconds or even ten seconds from start-up to stable light output and can be started only after cooling for 3-6 minutes after being turned off. However, the start-up time of LED is only a few tens of sodium seconds (ns), and there is no waiting time for a restart. LED lights can normally work in continuous on/off state.
(5) Facilitate optical design
LED is small in size and can emit light directionally on the half-plane. It can be regarded as a point light source in light design, which is very suitable for optical design by using a lens or reflector to obtain ideal light distribution and achieve higher light efficiency.
(6) Strong plasticity and firm structure
The plastic shape of LED street lights is strong, which can reflect decorative and local cultural characteristics through shape design and add additional value of aesthetic feeling and city image.
(7) Low carbon and environmental protection, especially suitable for solar photovoltaic technology
Gas discharge lights such as high-pressure sodium lights contain harmful substances such as mercury, which will cause long-term serious pollution to the environment and water sources after the light source is discarded. LED chips and their packages can meet the requirements of the EU RoHS directive and are free of harmful substances such as mercury and lead. The LED can be recycled after being discarded and will not pollute the environment.
(8) Has a potential total cost advantage
At present, the unit price of LED street lights is more than 4 times higher than that of high-pressure sodium lights. A 250W LED street light is equivalent to a 400W high-pressure sodium light, but the former costs 6,000 to 8,000 yuan, while the latter costs only 1,500 yuan. However, as long as the characteristics of high luminous efficiency and long service life of LED street lights can be brought into full play, the difference in initial cost can be recovered by saving electricity and maintenance costs. With the gradual maturity of LED street light technology and the continuous reduction of initial cost, its potential advantages in total cost will emerge in a short time.
