"The grass is always greener...", that’s why it’s so easy for me to sit here now and wonder which life is better: the life of action or the life of contemplation. It would seem, if we were to follow Your lead, that we were meant to serve one another - to facilitate Your kingdom on earth by what we say and do as an example to others, therefore, actions! Yet I feel so much closer to You and Your kingdom at times of solitude and peace - away from people. This strikes me as a kind of "cop out". I mean, it’s pretty easy and very pleasant to keep You company in the quiet of a room with a closed door and just be able to pour myself out to You and let You fill me up. There’s just something that seems a little lazy and not quite right about it - like the easy way out. Action and example seem so much more Christ-like to me. Yet, You too removed Yourself from time to time just to contemplate Your Father’s will and to pray in solitude. Maybe ideally the answer is to do both.
