According to the latest plan of the local government of Lafayette, all outdoor lighting systems will be provided with new LED street lighting by LED street lamp manufacturers within three years.
Lighting needs to be assessed throughout the city, and different areas require different lighting conditions, different watts, and different fixtures. For example, the lighting of major streets such as Johnston Street is different from residential areas.
“In fact, these LEDs consume only half the electricity compared to existing conventional lamps, and the longer duration means it can reduce the number of maintenance costs,” a local authority spokesman said. “These street lights have better brightness and higher visual fidelity for the audience, which is equivalent to fewer potential accidents and will provide more benefits for local pedestrians.
Converting the existing 18,000-inch traditional lamp into an LED street light from LED street lights manufacturer, the total investment is about 7 million US dollars in three years. The program will be completed in mid-2018.
The light bulb is expected to last for about 15 years and the return on investment is about 8 years. It is estimated that these lights will last for about 15 years and the return period will be 8 years.
He added: "Traditional street lights will gradually disappear over time and reduce the light they emit, while the LED street lights manufacturer's LEDs will not. The brightness of the lighting can be adjusted to make people feel at ease."
