The Quality of Public Lighting Indicates The Value of The City

In wealthy neighborhoods, the streets are properly dark after sunset, with warm light from street lights and house windows. Public housing is often illuminated like a hospital. Repressed bright lights can be continuously monitored: these high-brightness levels provide enough light for CCTV cameras, and their lenses are used for security purposes to produce high-quality lenses. Some people even say that this shot is just high quality, so it can be held in court.

The quality of public lighting(CLASSIC) indicates that the value of the city is higher. In other words, the built environment reflects the perception of quality. The ability of light to describe space as attractive or unattractive further promotes the existing differences between the rich and the poor. It perpetuates the stigma of public housing and other poor areas. It provides a visual representation of what is "other."

City governments need to understand that public lighting is an important aspect of building a city landscape, not a means of controlling behavior. The design of the project should consider the user and the purpose, in order to reduce the difference between the lighting of different communities. The poorer communities should not be aesthetically pleasing, so they are alienated from the rest of the city in society. Lighting needs to be considered a tool for social integration, not an aesthetic right reserved only for the rich.
