Adopting LED Public Lighting Is Closer to Achieving Emission Reduction Targets

New York State Energy and Finance Chairman Richard Kaufman said: "Under the leadership of Governor Cuomo, innovation and smart initiatives using easy-to-deploy and off-the-shelf technologies such as Led Public lighting(CLASSIC) have brought us closer to achieving emission reduction targets. NYPA is the first The installation of this lighting source supports us in transforming our energy vision to achieve a cleaner, more flexible and affordable energy system."

NYPA will work with towns, villages, and counties across New York to fully manage and implement customer transitions to LED streetlight technology. The Electricity Authority will provide upfront financing for the project and will pay NYPA in the next few years by reducing the cost savings associated with the energy consumption of LED public lighting. NYPA is also willing to fund municipal utility companies to purchase street lighting systems if needed.

NYPA's government customers have access to a variety of lighting options to meet their individual needs, including lighting specifications using SMART technology, which can be used for many other functions such as cameras and other security features, weather sensors, Wi-Fi and electricity meters.
