Do you know the truth about hell?

Many religions teach that hell is an eternal place and inescapable. What does the Bible really teach? There are accounts of people escaping hell. Jesus and Jonah both escaped hell. Since two righteous individuals escaped hell, does that give us an indication for the future?  Have you ever lost a loved one to death?

hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.” (Rev 20:13 KJV)  For Answers to Your Biblical Questions go to the Jehovah Witness Q & A Forum.

Hell IS eternal because your soul is immortal.

"the soul that sinneth, it shall die." (Ezekiel 18:4 KJV)

Noticed Revelation 20:13 mentioned but not 20:14 and 20:15. It is probably necessary to read Revelation 21:8 too. Looks like hell leads to lake of fire.

"And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death." (Rev 20:14 KJV)

Notice death and hell were cast into the lake of fire, not that they became the lake of fire. The Greek word used for the lake of fire is Gehenna, which rerpresents everlasting destruction or the second death.  Since death and hell were cast into Gehenna, then hell and death itself will be destoyed and no longer exsist.

"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." (Rev 21:4 KJV)

To help us gain unstanding of what hell means, other translations give a deeper undstanding.

Revelation 20:14 translataions:

American King James Version
And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

Aramaic Bible in Plain English
And Death and Sheol were cast into The Lake of Fire- this which is the second death.

New International Version
Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death.

New Living Translation
Then death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This lake of fire is the second death.

"Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and come out," (John 5;28 KJV)

hell or, the grave. 1 Corinthians 15:55 O death, where is your sting? O grave, where is your victory?

there are two groups, the saved and unsaved. The unsaved goes to hell and grave and then to the lake of fire.

Yes, there are two groups, however both gropus are ressurrected from hell or the grave.  Saved and unsaved, the righteous and unrighteous, or the just and unjust.

Acts 24:15 translations:

King James Version
And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.

Darby Bible Translation
having hope towards God, which they themselves also receive, that there is to be a resurrection both of just and unjust.

World English Bible
having hope toward God, which these also themselves look for, that there will be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.

Young's Literal Translation
having hope toward God, which they themselves also wait for, that there is about to be a rising again of the dead, both of righteous and unrighteous;

Acts 24:15 Parallel
Commentary

Geneva Study Bible

And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.

Where do the dead come from? "And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works." (Rev 20:13 KJV)

Both good people and bad people go to hell or the grave. (Job 14:13; Psalm 9:17)

Please see Luke 12:5.

Yes. Luke 12:5 is an excellent scripture.

Luke 12:5 translations.

Berean Literal Bible
But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear the One who has authority, after the killing, to cast into Gehenna. Yes, I say to you, fear Him.

Aramaic Bible in Plain English
“But I will show you whom you should fear: that one who after he kills is authorized to cast into Gehenna; yes I say to you, be afraid of this one.”

Weymouth New Testament
I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who after killing has power to throw into Gehenna: yes, I say to you, fear him.

World English Bible
But I will warn you whom you should fear. Fear him, who after he has killed, has power to cast into Gehenna. Yes, I tell you, fear him.

Young's Literal Translation
but I will show to you, whom ye may fear; Fear him who, after the killing, is having authority to cast to the gehenna; yes, I say to you, Fear ye Him.

"Not everyone who dies goes to hell, though. The Bible shows that some people become so steeped in wickedness that they are beyond repentance. (Hebrews 10:26, 27) When such ones die, they go, not to hell, but to Gehenna, which is a symbol of everlasting destruction. (Matthew 5:29, 30)

For example, Jesus indicated that some of the hypocritical religious leaders in his day would go to Gehenna.Matthew 23:27-33." Read More....

Have you taken alook at (Matthew 10:28)?   The soul can be destryed. Where? HELL.  Once destroyed there is no life or afterlife because it is destroyed.... death is non-exsistence. A Ressurection would have to occurr in order to life again. (Acts 24:15)

"And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." (Matthew 10:28)
