Joy, 1of7

~ The Source of All True Joy ~

Introduction to the Joy SeriesOur Lord Jesus Christ told us that He came so that His followers could have true joy resulting from their relationship with God?  Listen to His words:  “…I come to You, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy fulfilled…” (John 17:13).  In the prior covenant King David said, “You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore” (Psalm 16:11).  Near the close of our New Testament, “the disciple whom Jesus loved” tells us that “these things we write to you that your joy may be full” (1 John 1:4).

Joy In God  ~  “And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation” (Romans 5:11).

Joy In Christ  ~  Jesus said, “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full” (John 15:11).

Joy In The Spirit  ~  “Therefore do not let your good be spoken of as evil; for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit” (Romans 14:17).

Observation  ~  All three members of the Trinity are involved in the Christian’s joy.

Concluding Comment  ~  Regarding Christian joy Charles Haddon Spurgeon, the Prince of Preachers, said: “Peace is joy resting, and joy is peace dancing.
