Before 1976 i came to a point in my spiritual life that i thought i am all set to heaven that is before i started reading the Holy Bible. I thought all my good works are enough to carry me through. But then i started reading the Bible and slowly but surely my faith in my good works crumbled. I found that my going to heaven is based on my faith in Jesus Christ. In 1982 i fully accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.
From 1982 to present (2017) i continued to read the Bible, read books based on the Bible, listened to sermons based on the Bible. Tried to copy, memorized beautiful verses. Yet now i sensed that there is more to see and experience. In short the Holy Bible is inexhaustible.
Here is a challenge for those who believe that St. Peter is the first pope. Have you read the letters of St. Peter to the early church as written in the Holy Bible ? By the way, i am starting to reread the letters or epistles of St. Peter to the church and i am still finding truth in it. Yes the Holy Bible is inexhaustible. But we do not have to know the whole Bible to be saved but we have to have faith in Jesus Christ to be saved. One of the thieves on the cross is one proof of that.
As our Lord Jesus Christ said and you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.
By the way do we have to read the Bible ? Yes it is one of the effective ways i know to protect us from false beliefs and to overcome the temptations of this world and more.
