Usually people try to reform themselves on their own, by resolution, by promises, by discipline, by will power etc. Even some Christians try to do that. But we humans will fail because of the sin nature inherited from Adam and Eve and that sin nature was not fully controlled through the family of Noah who survived the flood.
This week I was reminded of people who experienced transformation through Jesus Christ. This transformation is made possible through the Holy Spirit and living in the Word of God , contained in the Holy Bible.
In my country of birth, the Philippines, the president is waging a war on drugs through physical means. By physical means, blood sometimes flow but through Jesus Christ only Jesus ' blood was sacrificed. If more people will respond to Christian message then no more blood will be shed except for some martyrs in different places in the world.By the way this reminds me to encourage every Christians to pray for the world.
Most churches I know would love to be agents of transformation but for some reason or another we froze in inviting others to church. Perhaps we have been turned down so often. For Christians let us keep on inviting others and for non Christians if no one invites you, enter a church anyway. If no one noticed you , go to another.
Transformation is really engineered by God. But God does it in a way that the person experiencing the change thinks he is doing it like the illustration of the footprints in the sand that someone wrote. There was a story that a person was walking with God but only their footprints(two pairs) were showing. The person later noticed that in the hard times of his life only one pair of footprints was showing. The person asked God why did you abandon me but God answered those were the times I am carrying you.
Have faith in God for without faith it is impossible to please God.
