I have always been a fan of Darrell Waltrip, the champion NASCAR driver who now broadcasts the races for Fox-TV. He was somewhat flamboyant as a winning driver. But years ago he committed his life to Christ, and he was one of the three drivers who asked the late Max Helton to start the fabulously successful Motor Racing Outreach ministry to the Nascar community.
Well, a couple of weeks ago, good olí DW was asked to speak at the national prayer breakfast. In fact, he was the keynote speaker ó speaking at the breakfast right in front of everyone from President Obama to the Dalai Lama.
DW pulled no punches. He is an evangelical Christian who believes the Bible. At the breakfast, he said publicly, ďIf you donít know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, if you donít have a relationship, if Heís not the Master of your life, if youíve never gotten on your knees and asked Him to forgive you of your sins, or if you are just a pretty good guy or a pretty good gal, youíre going to hell.Ē He gave clear testimony about his personal conversion to Christ and the transformation it brought in his life.
He succeeded in turning a pretty ecumenical gathering into a powerful proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Good for Darrell Waltrip
