1My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, 2 making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; 3 yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, 4 if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, 5 then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you...
Proverbs 2:1-5 ESV
If...then. These words are spoken many times in scripture. If I seek, He gives understanding. If I pray, He hears. I must take the initative in my relationship with God. He does not force Himself on anyone. His invitation however is clear. Whosoever will may come! If...then.
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV
Trust...He will. Again, the first move is mine. Trust and He will guide my steps. Not a little trust but with all my heart. I may not always understand the path He takes me down but He knows and it will take me home to be with Him. In acknowledgeing Him I admit that He is my Creator and He alone has authority in and over my life. Truthfully, I have found that life is so much better, not necessarily easier because He never promises that, but better and sweeter. Trust...He will.
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life,
what you will eat or what you will drink,
nor about your body, what you will put on.
Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness,
and all these things will be added to you.
Matthew 6:25 & 33 ESV
Seek...receive. Seek His kingdom and righteousness. Receive all that I need in this life. I know from experience this is true. God has never failed me. I have failed Him too many times. But when I truly seek His will and His way He never fails to provide all I need and usually much more. Seek...receive.
