"For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another." Psalm 75:6-7
As a young man I worked in various companies earned money yet never experienced promotion. One day the office manager invited me to her office, she said do you know God can promote you without struggling for it. My conscience condemned me, for I knew she was correct.
Peter exhorts, "Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that in due time he may exalt you." You must decide two things concerning this matter: First, do you believe that promotion comes from God rather than man? If you do, then you know that God puts those in authority to whom you are obligated to submit. To resist them is to resist God. Second, do you acknowledge that if promotion comes from God, then you can do nothing to manipulate, politic, or any other expression of self-promotion, to acquire the advancement you desire? If God wants you in the position, He will place you there. If He does not want you to have it, not only is there nothing you can do to obtain it, you are best served by not wanting to change His mind even if you could. As the apostle Peter counsels, the path to exaltation is humility. Know, however, that humbling yourself before God does not guarantee the promotion; He may even demote you. Don't be tempted to try to manipulate God. He may wait until you are in heaven before fulfilling His promise. Ask God to promote you to next level you suppose to be today. Remember strife among the brethren end up in demotion. God bless you as you obey in Jesus name.
