Fearing The Decisions Of Others

Hebrews 13:5-6

We live in a world where many aspects of our lives are decided by someone else. Someone high in management decides that a restructuring is needed and you lose your job. Your spouse decides that he or she wants to be with someone else and leaves you. The business partner you trusted steals from you and leaves you in financial ruin. These are just a few of the ways that our lives can be changed and damaged by the decisions and actions of another person. So how are we to respond to these things when they happen ?

Hebrews 13:6 says that we are not to fear what man can do to us. Even though those around us can do things that create great pain and anguish in our lives we are not to allow fear to control us. We are not to be controlled by the fear of the fallout of the choices of another. Obviously this is easier said than done, but we must remember that God will never forsake us (v.5). Regardless of what someone else does He is with us and he will help us. Mere humans do not have the final say.

Not only are we not to allow fear to control us when we are the victim of someone elses decisions, but we are also not to let the fear of what another person might do control us either. This fear of the future will keep us in constant turmoil if we let it. not only does this fear destroy us but it dishonors God by expressing doubt in Him.

Are you faceing the consequences of someone elses selfish decision ? Do you live in fear of what a boss, spouse, or friend might do ? Remember that God will not forsake you. Ask God to replace your fear with faith. Trust Him. Lean on Him. When you do you will find that He will work on your behalf. And you will learn what Joseph learned. That what other meant for bad, God meant for good !
