Jesus died for you and me.

Jesus died for you and me.

Perhaps this is new to you, that Jesus died for you and me. There was a time when I thought that Jesus was killed by the Jewish religious leaders about 2000 years ago and aided by the Roman soldiers at that time. They crucified Him because He claimed God is His Father and that He will destroy the temple. The Jewish leaders feared too that because Jesus is growing popular with the people and causing uproar that Rome will come and destroy their nation. So rather than lose the nation, they plotted to kill Jesus.

So Jesus was crucified, died , was buried but Jesus rose again after three days and three nights. He was seen by His disciples and after  a few days left after telling the disciples that He will come again ,meanwhile His disciples were also told that they are to wait for the Holy Spirit.

Again let us go back to the statement that Jesus died for you and me.  Maybe another statement will put some light into this that Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. By the way the Jews were taught to sacrifice a perfect animal to cover their sins. Year after year their priests practice this sacrifice. The Jews were also told that someday their deliverer will come. Let us go back to the crucifixion account. When Jesus died, the veil in the temple was ripped open from top to bottom. What does this mean ? The veil that used to separate the people or the high priest from the Holy of Hollies was opened, there is no more separation. Again what does this mean ? Something got paid, that is our sins that separated us from God, the death or sacrifice of Jesus paid for them.

By the way, your decision to believe or not to believe this is in your hands.

But here is another thought would you rather pay for your own sins or have somebody do it for you ?To have somebody to do it for us seems a way out but here is the deal. When we accept Jesus sacrifice for us He then became our Savior. Because He is alive too, we become His own and if we belong to Him , He becomes our Lord. If He is our Lord then His words are our command.

If these are still unclear to you , let us pause, soak it in and pray about it. Let your inner man meditate on this and pray that God will guide you to the right decision.
