Jesus said, “I and My Father are one” (John 10:30).
There are quite a number of Jehovah titles. This series will focus on seven Jehovah titles which embrace the fullness of Jesus Christ for His people. These titles include the completeness of Jehovah’s name as it is manifest in the life of Jesus Christ for His people. These titles show how the Messiah completely meets His people’s need from their guilt to their future glory.
Jehovah-Rophi means “the Lord our shepherd,” or “the Lord my shepherd.”
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwellin the house of the Lord forever” (Psalm 23).
In this psalm David reminds of Jehovah’s leadership but also His close intimate involvement with the details of our lives. Those who are His understand the realities of all the promises contained in this short psalm. It is Jehovah’s desire to lead and guide us through life’s journey.
additional thought:In your personal study you might want to compare three roles of our Messiah: the Good Shepherd of Psalm 22 and John 10 (the suffering Savior); the Great Shepherd of Psalm 23 and the Book of Hebrews (our present Priest); and the Chief Shepherd of Psalm 24 and 1 Peter 5:4 (our future exalted King).
the key question: “Who do you say that I am?” (Matthew 16:15). This is the most important question you will ever answer. If you do not answer it, or answer it incorrectly, you have made the biggest mistake anyone can make!
