Dennis McGuire, who savagely raped, sodomized and murdered a 22 year old pregannt woman, in 1989, has been executed by a lethal injection that 'appeared' to cause him discomfort. As is to be expected whenever capital punishment is carried out, there are many who, refusing to think reasonably, are crying foul. As this is such a persistent problem I could not help but respond. And, as it is so persitently ridiculous, I could not help but respond with a bit of cynicism (please forgive me my weakness).
What a pity that this man, who subjected his helpless victim to suffering that is practically unimaginable for anyone who has not experienced intense suffering, had to undergo a few minutes of PERCEIVED discomfort. I feel so sorry for him. I mean, why should such a savage man, who committed such a savage, bloody, merciless crime, have to experience any discomfort related to punishment for his crime? Never mind the FACT that nobody can know for certain whether he suffered or not. It's simply barbaric to do anything to anyone that might, even remotely, resemble justice. In a world where black is white and white is black it makes perfect sense that putting a KILLER to DEATH is regarded as immoral. I, for one, will be glad when this society, as a whole, takes that final leap into the pit of despair and we can all freely be what we evidently desire to be, STUPID BEYOND BELIEF!
