1 Cor 8:13 ¨Therefore, if food makes my brother stumble, I will never again eat meat, lest I make my brother stumble.¨
Note:- Eating or not eating is a non issue as far as our relationship with God is concerned but what shall happen to our fellow brethren. Our freedom in Christ shouldn´t be bondage unto us, unfortunately this has been the issue of it. Freedom itself has become bondage. ¨Everything maybe permissible but not everything is helpful¨. The Church is in the same situation of the church in Corinth. Is your freedom becoming a stumbling block for other? What are the things that have the elements of evil or idolatry in your life that might make other to stumble, half naked dressing to church, gambling, gossip, alcohol, smoking, sugar daddy/mummy etc?
John 6:13-15 ¨Therefore they gatheredthemup, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves which were left over by those who had eaten. Then those men, when they had seen the sign that Jesus did, said, “This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world. Therefore when Jesus perceived that they were about to come and take Him by force to make Him king, He departed again to the mountain by Himself alone.¨ Jesus was tempted with fame and power, a shortcut to glory that did not entail the cross but he refused to allowed the crowd to pushed him. people do says that ¨The voice of men are the voice of God¨ this word is totally contradicted to the plan of God. Romans 12:2 ¨And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove whatis that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.¨
Example of people with conviction.
1.Daniel: - he purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the king´s meat or drink.
2.Joshua:- the man that took the mantle from Moses says ¨choose ye this day whom ye will serve, but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord¨
3.Joseph: - he was sold by his brethren into a foreign land as a slave, yet he preferred purity than popularity.
4.Three Hebrew men: - they vowed not to bow, bend or worship the golden image of the king, even if God do not come for their rescue.
5.Simeon peter: - stood to say ¨we ought to obey God rather than men¨. Unfortunately people obey men than God who can kill both the flesh and soul and cast them into the lake of fire.
6.John the Baptist: - he knew that his ministry would be at stake speaking against the act of evil of King Herod. He told Herod ¨it is not lawful for thee to have thy brother´s wife¨
How many of can still stand in faith just like this soldiers of God. Brethren are you still compromising your salvation or still living and growing stronger in sin. Time wait for nobody, today might be your only opportunity.
What is conviction?
1.It means having a strong belief in something.
2.It means seeing yourself the way God is seeing you.
3.Things or one thing for which you would be willing to die for.
Types of Conviction.
1.Practical Convictions: - this is the ability to put into our daily living or character what we have study from the word of God. Reading the scripture or listening to message is not enough until it´s being put into our daily living.
2 Timothy 2:15¨Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.¨
2.Permanent Convictions:- this is the conviction that keeps you going with Christ despite the circumstance you might find yourself. Do you only serve God when thing goes well or you abandon your love for Christ when the storm of life arises. Job was in unfavourable circumstance, his own trials of life yet he says ¨l know my redeemer liveth¨
3.Powerful convictions: - this kind of conviction enables you to turn from sin and compromise and make you to be more faithful to God and His service. Do you know that many faiths are not to their money? Our worship is unto God but occasional worship service mean s nothing to many. They allowed their challenges to take the position of God. The Holy Spirit empowers us to give all to God according to His instructions; our tithes, vows, worship etc. Abraham gave all to God (his only son Isaac). Hannah gave Samuel to God not hoping she can have other children.
4.Pleasing Conviction:-Galatians 1:10 ¨For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.¨ A servant pleases his master so we are to please God in all ways. While people strife to please the flesh, worldly things, husband, wife, ungodly friend etc Paul says he please God. Hebrew 11:5¨By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God¨. Proverbs 16:7¨When a man's ways please theLord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him¨.
Ask yourself few questions. Are you pleasing the Lord or the world? Is your salvation guinea or you´re just covering? Is Christ really living inside you or the affairs of this world have taking the position of Christ in your life.
Repent today and follow the Lord, stand firm and the Lord shall make His way known unto you.
1.If I had walked away from the way of salvation, Holy Spirit send me back today.
2.Holy Spirit help my weak faith, strengthen my inner man and let me live by your word in Jesus name.
3.Prodigal anointing troubling my destiny, dry up now in Jesus name.
4.Lord Jesus, appear to me and teach me all things concerning heaven.
