Living for Jesus isn't supposed to be easy

Living for Jesus isn't suppose to be easy

A few weeks ago I heard someone say 'people are always trying in their own strength, just ask the Holy Spirit to help you'. The way he said it struck a cord with me. It was almost as if it were a no brainier, as if you shouldn't struggle with any areas of your life if you have the Holy Spirit.  This is certainly untrue in my life. I have the Holy Spirit living in me but I struggle. There are weaknesses that I battle everyday and probably will aways battle. The well known scripture 'I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me' (Philippians 4:13) was quoted. Now this scripture is so rich and true. I can do all thing through HIM. But it certainly doesn't mean with Jesus it will be a breeze.  But with Jesus it's POSSIBLE. It takes work. It takes commitment. It takes being in scripture and giving your all to Him. Even if we are believers and rely on the Holy Spirit-it isn't easy. We battle our flesh everyday. Jesus wants to challenge us, face ourselves to better ourselves. But it can be a painful process. He wants those parts of you that are kept in the dark , the parts that you you hold at arm's length away from Him. When we do give in, give our all it's so rewarding. But is it the Christian life easy? No way. Especially when you face something that is your weakness. We aren't perfect and we will fail but his mercies ring true. Our weaknesses and struggles are here to make us realize how much we need Jesus. They remind us this is our temporary home-don't get comfortable.
