The measure of the intelligence of man is not based upon what man knows, but on the realization of how much man does not know. But, man continually speaks of things about which he has no knowledge, apparently believing because he has an opinion concerning any subject; therefore that opinion is correct… The nature of man is human and has never experienced being a spirit, yet he speaks about spiritual aspects as if he knows anything about this condition. Man also has a soul which is spiritual, but until a person understands the meaning of that aspect of his being, the primary interest is upon the carnal. Although man can understand the concept of the spiritual world because the Bible gives us certain information concerning this world, it is impossible for man to speak from personal experience. Any discussions concerning the spiritual world only demonstrate the arrogance and ignorance of man, but as we have learned from the Bible, this is also the nature of man and is not surprising…

The Bible offers us a certain amount of insight into the spiritual world in order to prepare us for that condition upon our death. God chose certain individuals and spoke with them directly giving them all of the information that we have concerning the spiritual world, but this is not all of the information that there is. As we read through the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, we find that most of the information given to us is knowledge of how to get through this life and reach the spiritual world and exist forever in paradise. Rules and regulations were given by God that must be followed in order for us to reach that for which we hope. And, since we have never seen God, and in fact, even know that He exists, this must all be done with great faith… The belief that God does exist is not difficult because we have all seen enough evidence to eliminate any doubt about this, and His rules for our behavior are not severe, yet man seems to have difficulty adhering to them. In reality, man has done nothing to deserve the incredible gift offered to us by God if we follow His rules, and in fact, all of the difficult parts, He has taken on Himself…

Endless discussions concerning a subject about which we know very little, if anything, does nothing to increase our understanding of biblical doctrine. We must first get through this life and the Bible gives us all of the information that we need in order to have a reasonably content life on earth; that is, if we follow the rules. Statements made by the “enlightened” only tend to cause confusion and this makes Satan extremely happy. Certainly, there are those that have been given a gift of understanding, but that gift should be used to assist others to the path of the strait gate and not to criticize or judge others. These fortunate few should also be an example to others, but unfortunately, that example is often times detrimental because of their belief that they are “enlightened” when, in fact, they are not.

Ultimately, we will all live in the world of spirits, but before we reach that point, we must get through our lives on earth. God has given us the correct path to reach Him, but Satan will always be attempting to move us off course. The Bible is our instruction manual for achieving both aspects of our lives and there is where we should seek the information that we need. But, we must get through this life first… The rules for that part of our existence are not difficult and if we follow them, without alteration for convenience, we will find ourselves in the presence of God when we leave this world !!!

There is so much that is disagreeable in this blog, that I will just deal with a few points. One is this quote. " the primary interest is upon the carnal.""Ultimately, we will all live in the world of spirits, but before we reach that point, we must get through our lives on earth."

I obviously disagree with these statements. Let's deal with the "carnal" carnal is simply the physical world in which we live. Romans 8:7Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

1 Corinthians 3:1

and I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
1 Corinthians 3:4
For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?

There is no mistaking these scriptures, they are warning against minding the things of this world. Now to deal with the misperception that we cannot walk in the spirit.

Romans 8:4

That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Romans 8:5
For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
Romans 8:9
But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
Romans 8:10
And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
Romans 8:13
For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
Romans 8:16
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
Romans 8:23
And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of theSpirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body

1 Corinthians 14:14
For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.
Galatians 3:3
Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
Galatians 5:16
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
We are made in God's likeness, is that in the flesh? No, God is a spirit so obviously we weren't made in His likeness in our flesh, but in our spirit. We have three parts to us, the body, soul and spirit. Not just the body and soul (mind, thoughts, emotions). Upon salvation (accepting Christ) we become a new creature: Did your body change shape? Your hair a different color, did you suddenly lose/or gain weight? How about your thoughts did you think differently? If you minded the things of Christ then you still did or if you minded the lusts of the physical world, you still thought the same. So where is the new creature? It is the spirit, your spirit was translated from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light.
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 2:16
For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ.
So our physical soul has the mind of Christ no, but our spirit does! So how do we walk physically in the spirit. By the renewing of our minds, one through studying the Word of God, which is Spirit (The Word, became flesh) Yes, in studying the Word we are focusing in spirit. Also, by pondering the Word day and night. Instead of pondering on how to solve our physical problems, ponder on scripture. Instead of worrying how not to sin replace those thoughts with the Word. Instead of worrying about the tempter, replace those thoughts with the one who destroyed all his power...........Jesus! Instead of magnifying the so-called "powers" of Satan......Magnify the One who has defeated him....Jesus!

To Gacaputo,

If I may share what I read , you wrote:Ultimately, we will all live in the world of spirits, but before we reach that point, we must get through our lives on earth. Comment: you wrote: But, we must get through this life first…

. It seems you are telling that we are not qualified to discuss life or spiritual and its aspects till after we lived our whole life. But is'nt it we live and learn as we go along and we can share what we learned along the way.

Ephesians 1:18-21  I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance, in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.

Ephesians 2 says we are seated with Him now.

We who worship the Father, worship Him in Spirit and Truth, For Christ IS Spirit and Truth and He abides In us, on earth as it is in Heaven. We walk in the Spirit to put to death the deeds of the body...We only overcome because of Him IN us. Its IN Him we live, move and have our being.

I have been "Enlightened"  and I am not ashamed to say so. Darkness has to flee in HIS light...Are we not to walk in the light as He is in the light?....Having an intimate relationship with our Lord is absolutey that which is needed to enter in... Not rules and regulations. This was a cold and fearing love...where Gods people hid from Him...   We are to draw near to the throne with an assurance that when we believe, by faith in Jesus Christ His Son...that death, hell and the grave were already put under our feet....We are to fight our earthly battles "from victory ground"... not fight for the victory!!.. He already won! Therefore We win!!

To me, focusing on something that Christ already defeated for what makes the enemy happy...For when a person focuses on fear... they can't see the light.  Peter fell when he was walking on the water to Jesus(the light), he looked down (persay into darkness)...THIS is what the enemy wants...THIS is what makes him happy...A truely enlightened one...sends him packing...

May you be enlightened brother...sincerely...

John 1:3-5 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him, nothing came into being that has come into being. IN Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. ~selah...ponder this...I find it very interesting...

I sure don't feel I have all the answers...there is so much to grab hold of...but I do KNOW the one who holds all the answers... and I am trusting Him to guide my path(as He says He will) for I hunger and thirst for righteousness...and because of this... I shall be filled... Matthew 5:6

Thank you Lord...
