The Battle Between The Ears

Our Mind is the battleground, the conflict of the 2 natures, Spirit verses the Flesh.

1st John 3:9 No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

Does this mean we won't ever screw up, have a wrong thought, make a wrong choice?  no.. it means we don't want to (why would we?.....we now have a new nature....and when we do , not "if"we do, cause we all fall short...we have an advocate...and we quickly look to Him as our help in time of need... before Christ we didnt even care if we screwed up.... now..our minds are pricked the moment we go against our new nature.... because all things have been made new!!! Praise God!!

In Romans 7 and 8 - First of all, we were made to die to the law through the body of Christ, to be joined to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, in order that we would bear fruit for God. v. 5 For while we were in the flesh, the sinful passions, which were aroused by the law, were at work with the members of our body to bear fruit for death. v.6  BUT NOW we have been released from the law, having died to that by which we were bound, so that we serve in the newness of the Spirit, and not in oldness of the letter.  Now, v. 8 goes on to say..Is the law sin?  of course not... We would not have come to know sin if not for the law..  Without the law, we would never have known how bad we were..or our need of a Saviour.  So the law is holy, and the commandment is holy, righteous and good.

Paul talks to us about the conflict of two natures. We were sold into bondage to sin.  Nothing good dwells in our flesh. for the willing is present, but the doing of good is not. (this is why Christ came) For he cries out in v.22 I joyfully concur with the law of God in the inner man, v.23 but i see a different law in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin which is in my members, v.24 Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death? v.25 Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then, I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh, the law of sin.  Chapter 8 Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are IN Christ Jesus, v.2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death. v.3 For what the law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh as an offering of sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, v.4 so the requirement of the law  might be fullfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit....NOW to me..this is not a condition, saying IF we walk in the Spirit and not the flesh thingy.  "If" is not in that verse....(man has made that so).....I believe Paul is speaking to those who are now "IN" CHRIST.  For v:9 says.. However, you are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ (unbeliever)...he does not belong to Him

We have been raised to sit with Him in heavenly places!  Have we really been born again?..created in His image or not? Are we still trying to perfect that which He has done for us, by our stinkin fleshly works (filthy rags)? Are we to walk in fear of judgment? When 1st John 4:17 tells us.. love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgement, because As He is, so are we in this world. In fact..backing up a little bit in v.15 we are told that whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. v.16 We have come to know, and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.

We are to know and walk in this Identity,  as the Righteousness of God by faith IN Christ Jesus... I have been crucified with Christ, therefore I no longer live, but Christ IN me...my hope of glory...our sins, past present and future are under the blood (one offering, once and for all time, Heb10:9)....So again.....1st John 3:9

Thinking on/out of our fleshly nature/mindset is an insult to what Christ has done for us as his sons and daughters. It puts us back under condemnation(under law) and not the finished work of Christ.  It places our mind on self/failure/defeat...Who does Christ say we are? I think of Christ saying.."Who do they say I am?"... Well...We have that victory now.. because He has won...and He abides in us... Who are we?  better yet, Who's are Daddy??...

Its not what we do..but what He has done..We will only be able to enter Heaven, because His seed abides in us. All our "Good Works"..mean nothing..The scripture in James,  Faith without works is dead...im sure is coming to mind right now to some....so, let me say.... in my mind...The "finished work" of Christ, in us..by faith.. is what this is all about.  Could Abraham have layed his son on the alter without believing first that God had a plan. That God was going to complete what He started here..Could we today trust/believe our Lord with something such as this?...(God help us) believing by faith, its gonna be alright?...Abraham acted out..because He believed the Lord was perfecting that which concerned Him...  and we act out as well when we KNOW who we are IN Him... Its only His nature IN us that makes us really want to love others and do righteous acts...Many try to have faith and perform acts without the finished work concept...which keeps them coming back into an Old Covenant mindset...of what they have to "DO" to in order to be saved from the fear of judgement... Do good, get good, do bad, get bit....This mentality will always keep one from overcoming in this life. How many times does the Lord tell us "Only Believe?"

Anyways....Works are just that.. dead works..if not interlocked with knowing His grace, through faith..Eph 2:8,9.

Our sin nature will always try to dominate our spirit...in the battlefield of the mind...but.... if you are walking in the knowledge of the finished work, you know who wins...and your mind is at rest...He will be your peace..

Are we so foolish, having begun by the Spirit, are we now being perfected by the flesh? Does he who provides us with His Spirit, do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?. Galatians 3
