Matthew 6:12: “And forgive us our debts,as we also have forgiven our debtors.”
There is not a single person in this world that did not have to forgive somebody at some point in life. There is not a single person in this world who did not offend somebody at some point in life. It means that all of us have to forgive and all of us need forgiveness. It is egoistic to keep grudge in our hearts against somebody. We concentrate only on our pain and forget that God is a perfect love that always forgives. Jesus set us a good example when He hung on the cross and said:” forgive them for they know not what they are doing”.
Let us have this kind of attitude. Maybe the person who hurt you did not really know what he/she was doing. Even if he/she knew we are still told to forgive. Why? Because God always forgives all of your sins. And the only way He cannot forgive us is when we do not forgive others. By not forgiving others we close doors of our hearts for God’s forgiveness. But when we let the grudge go we open ourselves for the love of God that covers and cleanses even the biggest of our sins. So, let us forgive.
