Any Creed used, is for those of a certain group to identify themselves amongst themselves.
Creeds are of man, devised to make men feel safe in numbers.
A Creed does not a Salvation make, it is nothing more than a guide as to what basic beliefs Christians believe, but not all things found within a Creed have to be believed by all Christians.
Creeds were made later, yes, by men. Perhaps by well intentioned men, but by fallible men.
Up to the time of Nicea, different bishops had different creeds they used. People got along by exercising Christian charity. Then when they decided to make everything uniform, they started fighting and calling each other heretics.
The Apostles Creed? The first known reference to it was when Ambrose of Milan produced it.
