Hi to all and most missionary candidates use verse 8 , The Lord says , Whom shall I send for us ? Then said I , Here am I , send me !!

But most never say what verse 2 means ??

It reads , Above it stood the Seraphims , each one had 6 wings , with twian he covered his FACE , and with twain he covered his FEET , and with twain he did FLY !!

Hi and we have to determine what the number 6 means as numbers in scripture have meaning and here it has many meaning , like , MAN'S WORLD , HUMAN VALUE , and E W Bullinger is the only that I know that wrote a book on numbers !!

First , the CONTEXT speaks of Israel to whom Isaiah is to be sent to , in verses 9_13 !!

To me the wings are what COVERS this Seraphims and with to WING'S his FACE as Israel will soon see the FACE of Isaiah !!

With 2 WINGS it covers FEET as there is NO ONE preaching to Israel to return to God !!

And with 2 WING'S the Seraphim's did FLY as Isaiah will cover the land of Israel and hear the message of repentance !!

It seems to mean that the Seraphim's do the work cleanings SIN ,as seen in verse 6 and 7 !!

Isaiah's message to Israel is in verse 9_13 and bybthe way Isa 6 is the NEAR VIEW of Isaiah preaching and the FAR VIEW will happen at Christ Second Coming !!

Try reading EZK 1:5 and 6 and Rev 4:6-7 !!

The Seraphim, like the Cherubim, depict various aspects of the Divine character and ways, they are as it were Divine manifestations. The three aspects of the wings give the same result as the message that Isaiah is commissioned to preach:
Isaiah 6:9-10 (KJV): And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. 10 Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.
Even this has its difficulties, as it seems that he was to deliberately make his message so that they would not see and hear and understand, but in reality Isaiah preached in one of the most enthralling manners, with much interesting detail and remarkable foreshadowing of the coming of the Messiah. But overall, his own generation and the contemporary generation where Messiah was revealed, would not heed his message, and they would fail to see and hear, as confirmed by the quotation of Isaiah 6:9-10 in Matthew 13:14-17 and John 12:37-41. Nevertheless Isaiah was successful in his preaching, because he gathered some disciples and even had a great influence on Hezekiah. Similarly Jesus clearly taught, and despite the nation as a whole failing to respond, Jesus gathered disciples and the Apostles continued the work, but eventually the real progress occurred amongst the Gentiles.

The three stages of the Seraphim wings depict the failure of Israel to see and hear, their failure to respond by walking in Godís ways John 12:35-36, and finally the Divine message left Israel which was destroyed in AD 70 and the message was sent and published and successful amongst the Gentiles.

Kind regards
Trevor

Actually they are real, independent beings. They are angels of a higher order. They are not just manifestations of God.

Are they higher than Michael and Gabriel? I find no Scriptural proof that they are real. The Cherubim of Ezekiel 1 have four faces each, calf like feet and then the Living Creatures of Revelation 4 have one face each, similarly lion, ox, eagle and man. This indicates to me that they are symbolic creatures only. The Seraphim are associated with burning and judgement, and have six wings, the same as Revelation 4, while the Cherubim of Ezekiel 1 have four wings.

Kind regards
Trevor

The Seraphims and Cherubims are angels and they are higher than Michael and Gabriel. They are not symbolic, but real creatures.

Do you have any proof that Seraphims and Cherubims are higher than Michael and Gabriel? Perhaps you may like to suggest the Scripture that states this. Please note that both Michael and Gabriel stand in the presence of God, and Michael is called the Archangel, meaning a Chief Angel or even the Chief of the Angels.
Luke 1:19 (KJV): And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings.
Jude 9 (KJV): Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

Kind regards
Trevor

The lowest in the hierarchy of celestial beings are "angels." The Archangels are "Chief of the angels". They are not the chiefs of the Seraphims or Cherubims.

The Seraphims and Cherubims are the two highest angels or celestial beings. The Seraphs or Seraphims are the ones who always praise God saying "Holy, Holy, Holy...." (See Isaiah 6:3 and Revelations 4:8). The Prophet Isaiah was not the only one who saw the Seraphs. The Apostle John also saw them when he was brought up to Heaven.

Revelations 4:8 And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

Lucifer, was a Seraphim angel. Seraphim means "burning ones" or "fiery serpent". They also look like dragons. When Lucifer tempted Eve in the Garden of Eden, he appeared as a serpent or a dragon. The Book of Revelations also described Lucifer or Satan as a serpent or dragon.

The Cherubims are also high-ranking angels. The Cheribums are powerful guards and attendants to God's throne. After banishing Adam and Eve, God sent a Cherubim to guard the Garden of Eden.

Gensis 3:24 So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.

The Hebrew word for Cherubim in Genesis 3:24 is keruwb. It means "angelic being,"

The Catholic Church recognized three archangels despite that there may be more than three. Michael is one of the Archangels. Just because an archangel has a lower status than a Seraphim doesn't mean that they're weaker. The status of all celestial beings are given according to the roles they are assigned by God. Michael is the defender and protector and is therefore capable of defeating a Seraphim such as Satan.

The main role of the Seraphims was to praise and worship God and like the Cheribuims, they also attend God's throne, which is probably the reason Lucifer rebelled. In his pride, he prefer to sit on God's throne rather than attend to it.
