Thank you erinblanco! We do have One Shepherd if we are really His sheep and we are able to recognize His voice. When a natural baby is born, it does not recognize its mother or its father, but given time and care and love by those parents, the child will return the love that it receives.

Unfortunately, even 'good' natural parents [and they're not all good by any means] make many mistakes. Our heavenly Father makes no mistakes. If we follow Him, we will not go wrong!

It is true nevertheless that many of our spiritual fathers don't prepare us for our calling and many of us diviate from the voice that keeps crying out for us in our rebellion until the Good Sheppard finds us and breaks us in some form from the sin that in our hearts that has caused us to forsake having fellowship with Him by the Spirit that dwells in us.Therefore its very important for us be found broken and submitted to His Will for our lives, and in loving fellowship with His hand that leads us into ALL GOOD and FERTILE PASTURES!

Yes, if we follow any man too closely we can end up in trouble with God to the extent that our leader is, himself, out of step with God. This is why when we listen to even the best preacher or teacher or prophet or evvangelist, we must follow the lead of the Holy Ghost to sift through what we have received taking in the wheat and leaving out the chaff.

This also why in nearly any denomination that has any Truth we are able to draw closer to God in a measure for a period of time, but if the group or its leader(s) falter or stop or quench God's Spirit, we must check in with God to prevent our own fall. Without following the lead of Holy Ghost, we may end up in a pit and wonder how we got there. If our leaders are blind, we cannot follow them in their blindness.

That is wonderful illustration of how the Apostle paul was, blinded, but it was the Lord who done this by his(Pauls) willingness to resent the truth that he knew in his heart was against the knowledge that God had given him to know that what he was doing was his intention to do evil with! This can be very dangerous especially in light of the fact of what Romans 1/18-19 speaks to us regarding this, and which the Apostle himself wrote!
I think that you have started a wonderful thread sir that should be reviewed by those that think they can play politics and church too! We must feed the sheep instead of the wolves that let us pet them in order to get access to the sheeps which they wish to destroy!

John: it's been a day of heavy thoughts and when I just came to review this thread's updates, I had another. Jesus gave Peter 3 instructions to show his love for Christ: feed my lambs, tend my sheep, feed my sheep. The "feed my lambs" refer to our role in providing new Christians or immature Christians with the Word of God recognizing the milky formula they will require, the "tend my sheep" refers to our caring for each other as mature Christians - keeping each other safe and away from the wolves or nuturing each as we fall ill and need protection, and the "feed my sheep" is like-wise a command to give each other whole foods suitable to our maturity in Him - not letting us stay on the formula or return there. Interesting thought there as the older, mature Christians require a bit more shepherding then the lambs. TY for this thread. Peggy

Yes, Peggy, and eventually as we continue [that is, of course, if we continue] to grow, we will be like Him. At the end of His ministry, Jesus did not need that any man teach Him or feed Him or tend Him. Can we attain such a place as well?

"Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." Matt 5:48

"Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is." I John 3:2

Unfortunately, as we know, politics are a part of the ways of man! The Way of God is something else! Glory to His name!

We learned much, but what we learned was not all scripture, if you understand my meaning.

And may God richly bless you as well Marilyn for your kind words here. God gave me a tough wife who has mellowed through the years while I have grown tougher. His Spirit brought us together before either of us really knew very much about Him. Then when the first couple of years of our marriage got rough, as most marriages do, He really saved our relationship as well. We'll celebrate 37 years of marriage on June 25.

Glory to His name!
HAPPY BELATED ANNIVERSARY JOHN!!! MAY THE LORD BLESS YOU AND YOUR WIFE ABUNDANTLY THIS DAY AND ALWAYS!!!
